The Dean McGee Eye Institute is recruiting for the following full-time position:
TITLE:
Research Facility Assistant
REPORTS TO:
Research Facility Manager
SUMMARY: Performs tasks to provide support to lab personnel utilizing standardized
protocols and procedures, ensuring that equipment is clean and readily
available.
REQUIREMENTS: Requires mastery of rodent husbandry techniques, effective written
communication skills, ability to lift 50 pounds from floor to waist. Must be
dependable, able to work with minimal supervision and have a clean
driving record.
EDUCATION:
High School diploma or G.E.D.
EXPERIENCE:
Housekeeping skills and/or caring for animals
DUTIES:
1. Provides watering, feeding and care of rodent colony to include cage washing,
sanitation and sterilizing.
2. Preparation and pick-up/delivery of equipment for daily use.
3. Cleaning of lab space and other relevant areas.
4. Performs maintenance and assists in the upkeep of equipment, inventory and lab
supplies.
5. Shipping, receiving and inventory of lab supplies as needed.
6. Prepares procedure areas for use and completes model usage, safety and daily
reports as needed.
