CNS Scholarships and Awards Description. Applications for these awards are found below the award descriptions and need to be turned in to the counseling office by March 1

For CURRENT JUNIORS:

Cornell Book Award Winner - A highly competitive award for the top l% of Juniors with outstanding character and superior achievement. Given by the Cornell Alumni Association of CNY. We had an Honorable

Mention Award this year.

Wellesley College Syracuse Alumnae Club Book Award - Female Junior who shows leadership, Citizenship, and scholastic achievement-4 year liberal arts college in Mass. Hillary Clinton is an alum. Book award winners will be eligible for scholarships depending on academics. Book is The Norton Book of Womens Lives by

Phyllis Rose.

St. Lawrence University Book Award - Junior who shows citizenship and leadership. Submit an essay for scholarship competition- 4 year liberal arts college in Canton. Book is Mountains Beyond Mountains by Tracy

Kidder (Pulitzer Prize Winning author) and a 4,000. Scholarship at 1,000. Per year.

Wells College 21 st Century Leadership Award -Junior who shows leadership qualities and is an exemplary student.-4 year Liberal Arts College in Aurora, NY Scholarship is $40,000. for four years

Clarkson Leadership Scholarship - Junior – Highest award from Clarkson: Recipient gets 60,000.-15,000. Per year- Over 4 years-Leadership skills, top 15% of the class-interest in engineering, business or science

Clarkson Achievement Award - 48,000- or 12,000., per year over 4 years

Junior who has academic interest in engineering, business, or science

St. Michaels College, Vermont- Book Award for Scholarship and Service

Given to one male and one female junior who has high achievement in academics and community service- 4 year Liberal Arts College in Northern Vermont-Burlington- the book is: First they killed my father- by Loung

(Lou-ong) Ung-author and grad of St. Michaels. The book is a riveting memoir about the survival of a

Cambodian family and crusade for a land mine free world.

Elmira College Key Award- Liberal Arts and Science College - Awarded to one male and one female junior in the top 10% of the class for outstanding involvement in their community or school. Each award winner who visits the college in the fall of senior year, receives a 60,000. (15,000 per year) Scholarship Over 4 years

Le Moyne College Heights Award - Junior in top 10% of their class, 90 average, scored at 50 minimum on

PSAT each section. Leadership skills in school or community. 12,500. Per year scholarship- Le Moyne allows us to pick two students.

Student Sage Award -Student leader in junior class with community service and solid academic performance,

Scholarship from 5,000.-15,000. Per year for four years, for winners, depending on academic performance. We are allowed to give two of the awards.

Syracuse University Book Award - Given to a high school junior who has a commitment to academic excellence and community involvement in service to the public good.

Off the Beaten Path by Ruth Colvin, founder of Literacy Volunteers of America, long time Syracuse resident and received 9 honorary doctoral degrees, Presidential Medal of Freedom, and inducted into the Women’s Hall of Fame.

University of Rochester Humanities/Social Sciences Award - Junior who has shown outstanding achievement in Social sciences. Winner will be considered for the Fredrick Douglas/Susan Anthony scholarship program at

U of R and could receive up to 7,500. Per year/30,000-,or higher, based on academic performance.-

University of Rochester-Xerox Award for Innovation and Information Technology - annual award for outstanding junior, based on academic performance . Winner will be considered for Xerox scholarship of 7,500.

Per year which is 30,000. for 4 years./or higher

University of Rochester Kodak Young Leaders Award -Award for outstanding junior, based on academic performance, winners automatically considered for the Kodak Scholarship worth 7,500per year or 30,000 over four years./or higher

RIT Computing Medal Award - for students who have shown excellence in Math, Science and Computer areas. One male and one female selected from the junior class who have demonstrated leadership in school or community activities. Winners who attend RIT receive 7,000. Per year /28,000. for 4 years or higher.

RIT Creativity and Innovation Award - for students, one male and one female from the junior class who demonstrate outstanding achievement in innovation, creativity or entrepreneurship. Winners who attend RIT receive 7,000. per year/28,000. for 4 years.

Chatham University Rachel Carson Book Award – For a junior with a passion for the environment & interest in writing or the sciences.$1000 scholarship if attend Chatham.
