Dear Emmaus Families
GRANDPARENTS & SPECIAL FRIENDS DAY
Monday 14 September 2015
(Pre Kinder will celebrate Grandparents’ Day on Tuesday 15 September)
On Monday 14 September, Emmaus will hold our annual Grandparents & Special Friends Day. Please
extend an invitation to your children’s grandparents and/or an older friend or neighbour.
From 9 - 10am grandparents/friends will be welcomed into our Preschool, Primary & Secondary School
classrooms to observe reading, writing, other regular class activities and classroom displays, after which
a morning tea will be provided.
From 10 - 11am morning tea for our guests will be served in the Primary courtyard (please pray for
lovely weather!).
At 11am our guests will make their way into the Gymnasium ready for the Primary School Production,
“Just Joseph”, which will start at 11.00am and finish at approximately 12.15pm.
Invitations: Invitations are available on the School’s website for you to print off and pass on to
grandparents or an older friend or neighbour. If you would like more invitations, these are available from
the School Office. Note: there is a separate invitation for Preschool/PreKinder families.
Matinee Bookings: Due to sound restrictions, we have only 150 seats available for each performance.
Please follow the link on the School’s website to reserve your seats for the Grandparents & Special
Friends Day Matinee or the Tuesday Matinee. (The Matinees will be free of charge.)
Bookings for the evening performances at 6pm on Monday 14 and Tuesday 15 September are also
open, the cost is $5 per ticket. Bookings will remain open until sold out.
Morning Tea: We would appreciate parent help with morning tea. To indicate what assistance you can
give, ie providing a plate of goodies and/or setting up, packing up, etc., please email Leonie Penton at
events@emmaus.act.edu.au by Wednesday 9 September outlining what you would like to assist with.
During the classroom visits by our guests, children will be encouraged to share stories/memories about
their grandparents as well as family photos. Grandparents will be encouraged to share some memories
of what school and life was like when they were children.
If distance proves to be a problem, we ask you to encourage grandparents to send a letter, card, fax, or
email to the school for their grandchild or special person/people. The school’s details are included in the
invitation.
We look forward to welcoming all parents, grandparents and special friends to our school and sharing
across the generations.
Yours sincerely
Rachel McClure
