Use this checklist as a guide to help you successfully begin your career with Sacramento State!

First Day

Attend new hire orientation
Come to Human Resources in Del Norte Hall, Room 3001A to attend the new hire orientation. You
will sign your offer letter and position description form, along with learning about the university,
staff policies and procedures, benefits, and payroll.

Parking
Bring your signed Appointment Letter to Student Financial Services Center in Lassen Hall 1003 to
obtain your parking permit.
☐
OneCard (ID Card)
Bring your signed Appointment Letter to Student Financial Services Center in Lassen Hall 1003 to
obtain your OneCard (University ID Card).

Create your Saclink account
Setup your campus account (Saclink) at the following address: https://www.saclink.csus.edu/

Building access
Take the completed Key Request Form (completed by the Supervisor) to Facilities Services, along
with your OneCard, to obtain your key(s).
First Week

Meet with your Supervisor
Meet with your Supervisor to begin your department level orientation and training. Supervisor will
review relevant and important department and campus policies and procedures.
Supervisor will review office culture with new hire:
 Phone etiquettes
 Personal appearance
 Unit practices etc.
 Personal conduct, code of ethics/behavior,
 Staff meetings
confidentiality
Supervisor will describe relevant work procedures with new hire:
 Work hours and schedule
 Steps to resolving problems and conflicts
Supervisor will review department procedures for:
 How to process attendance forms
 Notification of time off for planned/unplanned absences
MOU Requirements: Overtime must be approved by _____________________________________
in advance of work being performed.

Review job description form and provide the new hire with clear performance expectations and
objectives so the new hire understands what is expected and how he/she will be measured. Discuss
probationary period if applicable.
Review department’s safety and emergency procedures. New hires must complete the Injury and
Illness Prevention Program, Emergency Preparedness, Mandated Reporter Status, and Active

Complete your Supervisor’s schedule and list of required trainings for the University and job-related
functions. Supervisor or mentor teaches position specific duties. (may be ongoing past first week)
Contact Risk Management Services at (916) 278-3979 for an ergonomics evaluation of your new
workspace.

ENS Emergency Notification
System
Sacramento State’s Emergency Notification System automates delivery of urgent announcements to
faculty, students and staff. The system sends out text messages, phone calls and email in the event of
