Clothes, including career clothes and much more, are available free to your clients from Huntertown United Methodist Church's Clothing Ministry. The process is simple, just complete the online request form. Huntertown United Methodist Church's Clothing Ministry News Christmas in Huntertown 2013 Location: The Third Place, 1601 W. Cedar Canyons, Fort Wayne, IN 46845 (SE Corner Cedar Canyon/Lima – red building) December 11 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. December 12 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. December 13 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Do you know of families who need a little extra help and hope this season, but are not connected to a Christmas gift program? Connect them to the 5th annual Christmas in Huntertown event. Over 300 families will have the opportunity to personally shop for gifts and leave with wrapped presents for the whole family. There are three requirements for a family to participate in Christmas in Huntertown. 1. The family MUST be referred by a church, school, caseworker, or agency. 2. The family MUST be pre-registered by the referring entity. 3. The family MUST not have been referred to any other Christmas assistance program, such as Christmas Bureau, Toys for Tots, Salvation Army, or Unto Others, or churches or schools. To register, first send an email request to missions@huntertownumc.org using your agency/church/school email address. We will then give you the password to complete the online form. You will receive a confirmation email if registered successfully. Contact missions@huntertownumc.org if you have any questions or if you have a problem with the online registration. (name withheld for privacy) U-Shop at Career Closet Wednesday, December 4 from 4 to 6 p.m. In order to meet the needs of our caseworkers, volunteers, and community members, the December U-shop will be December 4 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Career Closet in the Gathering Place, north of the Huntertown United Methodist Church, 16021 Old Lima Road, Huntertown, Indiana. All are welcome to shop the Career Closet for a donation, which will be used to purchase items that are needed by our clients but have not been donated. U-Shop is held the first Wednesday of each month. U-Shop began after discussion with many caseworkers who bring clients to Career Closet for appointments. U-Shop allows those caseworkers to shop at a time especially designed for them, for a donation to the ministry. For an appointment for one of your clients, email careercloset@huntertownumc.org. A doll, a toy or a star-sharing His Love Experience Christmas in Huntertown What can your client expect at Christmas in Huntertown? Let's take a tour. There may be slight changes in the process and gifts available, but, in general, this should be their experience. Arrival Registration and Childcare After a friendly greeting, the shopper confirms his or her preregistration and is assigned a number. Photo identification is required. May use whatever address is on their driver’s license. (A note from one of our guests at Christmas in Huntertown 2012) My, how time has flown. I meant to write this letter months ago. My family and I want to thank your dear, sweet, kind church members for blessing us with a Christmas to remember. I had so much fun picking out things for the family with your volunteers. They were such dears to stay late so I could finish. (I work Open Shopping While waiting for his/her name to be called, the shopper may select items from several specialty gift tables for the little extras that make Christmas special. There will be a selection of items that may include cosmetic items, books, and Christmas decorations. Also, hats, gloves and scarves, as available, can be selected. When his/ her name is called, a Santa's helper will show him/her where to stash the specialty gifts and guide him/ her to the shops to select presents for each family some pretty crazy hours and that night I had to work 3rd shift in Huntertown). My fondest memory is when I had searched every table I saw, loaded with Christmas deco galore, for a star. You see, my four year old had watched as we put an angel atop our modest Christmas tree, looked up at me and daddy and member. said, “But Mom, where’s the star? How will people know Hospitality where to look for baby Jesus if we don’t have a star?” So of Refreshments are available. The Gift Shops Women and Teenage Girls Gift Shop As the shopper enters the women's shop, they will be able to select gifts for the adult and teenage women on their list. Items include such things as decorative accents, purses, and scarves. Personal care gift course I searched high and low for a star to put on the tree, but couldn’t seem to find one. As I was gathering other gifts for the family, two ladies, who I shared my daughter’s cute little story with, came up to me with bags are available to pamper the women in the family. the perfect Christmas tree star. (Name withheld for privacy) Each family can select a Family Game Kit, which includes everything that is needed for a family fun night, such as a board game, DVDs, cards, hot chocolate, candy and popcorn. Wrap-Up! Now that the shopping is done, all that is left is to wrap the presents. On the gift wrapping tables, all the supplies are available, including some gift-wrapping helpers. Remember that your clients need to be referred and preregistered. Simply complete the online form after receiving a Dear HUMC, password from missions@huntertownumc.org. Please make sure Positive Pathways is an agency who works with low income individuals who are struggling from drug and/or alcohol addiction. We work one on one with clients to talk about recovery and to help them to make decisions that contribute to getting back on their feet. Our recovery consultants work hard to connect these client to resources that can assist with the reconstruction of their new, sober life. HUMC has been a HUGE support for our clients. HUMC has donated clothing to over 50 of our clients. that your client receives the information and is able to attend, as in the past over 50 families were referred that did not participate. Year Round Online Clothing Request Forms Your clients' needs continue despite the focus on Christmas. To request clothes or other items for your client, simply complete the online Clothing Request Form. We expect to respond to you within 24 is an emergency situation. The clothes your ministry has provided to those in need make it possible for them to move forward in their lives and to look good while doing it!
