STUDENT GUIDE TO REGULATIONS 2014/15 Preface Welcome to the University of Central Lancashire. When becoming a student at the University, you agree to comply with the various regulations, rules, codes, conditions and policies (the Regulations) that pertain to students during their enrolment. This Guide provides you with the web addresses where you can access the core Regulations in full that apply to you during your time at the University. There are also contact details for further information about each set of Regulations. This Guide includes matters such as: student conduct including the disciplinary, fitness to practise and fitness to study procedures and students’ use of social networking sites; academic regulations including extenuating circumstances, appeals and procedures for addressing cheating and plagiarism; students’ responsibilities relating to data protection, copyright and freedom of speech; and rules for the use of the University’s Library and IT Facilities. As a student you are bound to abide by each set of Regulations. It is, therefore, important that you take some time to familiarise yourself with these Regulations in full on the student portal at https://www.uclan.ac.uk/students/. The University has also adopted various policies and procedures which reflect its ethos as detailed in its Mission Statement and which will affect you during your time here as a student. The policies and procedures do not form part of this Guide but details are available on the student portal, which has been designed as an informative guide to students, providing useful links and relevant student-orientated information. This Guide is not exhaustive. Should you wish to access other Regulations these are available in the Library, Schools and Services and on the student portal. Copies of this Guide and the Regulations described within are available in alternative formats.
