Role Title: Heritage Project Assistant Department: UCLan Through the Ages Heritage Project Reports to: Heritage Project Manager Line manages: n/a Pay Band and Salary Range: £7.85 ph +holiday pay Role purpose: UCLan Through the Ages is a new heritage project that will make visible the history and heritage of the University and its neighbouring areas. It will enable students, staff and local people to access and celebrate this heritage and build a legacy to preserve this information for the future. The role would undertake work to assist with the planning, delivering and evaluation of the project. Key responsibilities 1. Organising, leading, and assisting with events that promote the heritage of UCLan involving students, community groups and student volunteers. 2. Assisting with social media and other promotion of events and activities. 3. Undertaking other duties as part of the Heritage Project team, including recording and monitoring events. Specific duties and activities 1. Organising, leading and assisting UCLan Through the Ages events. This will include event preparations .e.g. organising resources, equipment and travel. 2. Helping to facilitate events including being the main point of contact, talking to participants and running activities. 3. Assisting with communication with regards to event planning to other student staff and heritage project volunteers. 4. Making sure that all project staff and volunteers are fully briefed about events and can undertake their work safely; giving clear instructions. 5. Write and post blogs and use social media to communicate with others about the events, activities and work of UCLan through the Ages. 6. Able to document events, e.g. take photos or make short films that can be uploaded. 7. Recording and monitoring events, collecting feedback, writing short written reports on events and their performance. 8. Helping to ensure that all risk assessments are adhered to in order to keep, staff, volunteers and participants safe. 9. Be able to talk with SU Staff, Officers and students and help with general UCLan through the Ages enquiries. 10. Assist with collecting Performance Indicators and feedback for evaluation purposes.
