Biomedical Science Investigations- Summer Assignment 2015 HUMAN BODY ORGANIZATION This assignment is required for all incoming sophomores in Biomedical Science Investigations. It is optional for incoming juniors and seniors. I highly suggest that seniors review the material. Juniors, since you just completed this material at the end of the semester, it should be fresh in your memory. All students should familiarize themselves with LucidChart. We will be doing some concept mapping this school year. BSM has decided to adopt Lucidchart as its new concept mapping software. We will no longer be using Inspiration. It is part of your Google Drive. Just click on more to get to it. The basic unit of life is cells. Cells are then grouped into tissues, tissues into organs, and organs into systems. Assignment #1 Your assignment is to create a concept map of the 4 basic types of tissuesepithelial, connective, nervous, and muscular (for muscular- include the 3 subtypes) For each tissue, list the following: a. list 3 characteristics of the tissue b. minimum of 3 examples of where the tissue is found in the body (except cardiac) Assignment #2 Your assignment is to research the 11 systems in the human body and then create a concept map of the systems. For each system, list the following: a. main function(s) of that system b. organs found in that system Because you will be RESEARCHING this material, please be sure to cite your sources. As a future leader in the biomedical field, you will need to learn to APA formatting (https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/560/05/). Please share as a GoogleDoc Titled “HumanBodyOrgReferences.” Any citation generator should also work for you, but double check it against the link above. Your list should have a minimum of 3 sources.
