THE TOWN OF FOREST CITY PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT, LOCATED AT 132 WILKIE
STREET, FOREST CITY, NC 28043, IS NOW ACCEPTING BIDS FOR A 720 SQUARE FOOT
ADDITION TO THE EXISTING PUBLIC WORKS OFFICE. THE BIDS SHOULD BE BASED ON
THE FOLLOWING SPECIFICATIONS:
1.
FLOOR, raised slab(to match existing elevation), 4” minimum, 3500psi concrete, with wire & 6mil poly. Brick up
to floor level. Landscaping around foundation, seed & straw.
2.
EXTERIOR WALLS, 2X4 wood studs, 16” OC spacing, Insulated to R-15. Outside sheathing 7/16”OSB, wrapped
with (TYPAR or TYVEC). Outside vinyl siding “Carved Wood” or equal, (.044 thickness min, soffit .05 min, antiweathering protection, 50 year full replacement warranty min.) Color to match existing.
3.
ROOF, wood mono trusses, with 36” fall in the total span. 24” OC spacing. Insulated to R-38. Roof sheathing
5/8” OSB. Roofing material (continuous multi-rib 29ga. min)
4.
WINDOWS, double hung, vinyl clad, (new construction type), Low E glass, argon filled, full screen, tilt, no grids.
5.
DOORS & HARDWARE to match existing. Trim to match existing.
6.
CEILINGS lay in, 2’ X 2’
7.
INTERIOR WALLS, ½” drywall. Soundproofing in all bathroom walls. Vinyl baseboard.
8.
INTERIOR FLOORS. Commercial grade glue down tile.
9.
PAINT, Sherwin Williams Cashmere, 1 coat primer, 2 coats finish, (colors to match existing)
10.
ELECTRICAL, lights to be lay in type to match existing office lights, cat-5 cable and terminations in both offices,
for PC, telephone cable, and phone jacks both offices, receptacles as per drawing, switches as per drawing,

PLUMBING, All new Kohler fixtures. (Installed to ADA specs)
Water closets, flush valve (Zurn or Sloan), ADA height, open front seats. Urinals, big model, automatic flush
valve, (Zurn or Sloan). Sinks, use Delta or Moen single lever faucets. Water lines all type L copper, (City will
provide new 1 ½” water service) east side, tie hot water lines to existing, install frost proof hose bib on east side
of building. Provide new bi-level water cooler, (Oasis or equal). DWV, schedule 40 PVC, use existing sewer tap
on east side of building.
12.
BATHROOM STALLS, & HANDICAP BARS. Stalls & dividers baked enamel finish, bars stainless steel, installed by
contractor to ADA specs.
13.
HVAC, All Heating and A/C ducts shall be run from existing system and sized for best efficiency.

GENERAL CONTRACTOR SHALL LIST ALL SUB CONTRACTORS IN FINAL BID, SHALL PROVIDE PROOF OF
INSURANCE, & PROOF OF LICENSE. SUBMIT ALL REQUIRED TAX FORMS (IF NEW VENDOR). GENERAL
CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR OBTAINING ALL PERMITS. (CITY WILL WAVE PERMIT FEES & UTILITY
FEES; DO NOT INCLUDE THIS IN BID.)

CONTRACTOR‘S WISHING TO SUBMIT A BID WILL BE REQUIRED TO ATTEND PRE-BID MEETING.
