Action: Crocker assigned task. General discussion: Accountability & Metrics/Claims Cost Allocation (slide 5) Parker: Proposal in process to simplify funding process. Health & Safety services will be imbedded in baseline costs. Lawson: Model needs to include timely, frequent real-time incentives/rewards 4 Recent OSHA activities: inspections, citations Lawson: “programmed” inspection: ATD, respiration protection. Gibson: Nuisance type complaints increasing. HVAC inadequacies; temperature; excessive storage (egress issue). HVAC tests revealed no issues; egress issues handled. All complaint notifications were via letter. Noted that anonymous complaints are usually addressed via letter whereas those will a name associated are usually addressed via inspection. Wong: Permit variance for fume hood testing (using greener alternative gas). Findings to be submitted in Jan; decision due in Mar 2011. 5 Not on agenda: Chemical hygiene plan. Gibson: Plan forwarded to faculty. Will share copy with workgroup. Morris: Chemical Hygiene Officer assignment: by lab or one for the campus? Gibson: One for entire campus. OSHA approves; CHO is PhD Chemist. 5 UC Davis Fire Department consolidation Parker: update RFP issued for consolidation consultant. Award target: January 2011. Woodland, West Sacramento FD added to scope. Sorting out union, labor issues continues. 6 Safety Spotlight newsletter vendor Parker: UCD vendor is retired Bayer VP communications. Cost estimated $2-3K/Month. Will ask vendor to join next call. Morris: Supports leveraging the work. Agreed: Santa Cruz, Merced, Santa Barbara, Berkeley, San Diego, Riverside, Irvine, OP in favor of proceeding. Action: Parker will lead effort. Crocker will coordinate with vendor for Jan 2011 call. 7 Funding for EHS Technology Workgroup solutions- OTP Mac Pherson: SD OTP application close to completion. Not on Tech workgroup radar as top shared need. Chem Hygiene, Chem Substances apps also ready. Would like to share but lacks funding, staffing to support outside UCSD. Morris: Would like to see OTP demo. Action: Mac Pherson to discuss support off-line with Young. Mac Pherson to arrange OTP demo @ next Hazardous Waste workgroup meeting (HWAG) 8 Interpretations of Compliance with BUS 50- establishing a Controlled Substance Program Administrators workgroup Vernon: ID Campus administrators. Set-up quarterly conference call to assure all campuses on the same page regarding administration of program issues such as background checks, etc. Agreement to proceed. Action: Maranzana will email PPT to Crocker for distribution to Directors. General discussion on the matter of language appropriate training. Eaton: Using Neospeech application to translate training to Spanish, Chinese. Positive reaction from native speakers to translated content. Agreed: Directors are interested in pursuing translation application for language appropriate training. Maranzana: Site expected to launch in 1-2 weeks. Will include 20 SPO’s. Planning session: ERMIS dashboard: Need to define, agree on common denominators to make metrics meaningful.
