Lead Champion Meeting Thursday, January 19, 2012 @ 1pm Central via JJ Conference Line Facilitator/ Note taker: Paige Bledsoe, LCSW, Evidence Base Coordinator Attendees: Representatives from the following YDCs WHS TAFT Wilder New Visions Mt.View Tina Mosley Julie Mong Gail Myers I. Updates regarding dorms, ART group Facilitators, ART schedules: No changes reported by WHS, New Visions, and Taft (dorms) Wilder reported that dorm 4 has been closed and youth moved to dorm 2 Mt. View reported Erica Hall is now facilitating where Edmundson was Taft- Misty Keener and Tony – switched position in regards to facilitating/ co-facilitating groups Wilder- S. Ragland is out for a bit of time- Elizabeth Bufford will be facilitating while she is out II. Upcoming Training Dates & Monitoring Mt. ViewFebruary 6 & 7- Social Skillstreaming Learning Labs February 15-17- Social Skillstreaming- new group of participants March 7-9- ACT/ MR training WHS & New Visions- January 30- The Gathering Training WHS- January 31- February 2- ACT/MR Training- all 3 days 8am- 4:30pm Inquiry made regarding continuity of trainings for ART: Paige and Tina confirmed that in a Training Coordinators meeting held back in Dec. 2011 that it was determined that Training Coordinators would contact Tina/ Paige as soon as a list began of new/ old staff that needed ART Training in order to begin the coordination efforts to plan these trainings at the facility. Paige- has already contacted WHS and Wilder to inquire about training needs for ART clinical trainings and is beginning the process to work on getting this arranged. Please take not that we as ART Specialist will work diligently to be as timely as we can in scheduling this trainings to ensure that all staff receive the needed training, learning labs, and monitoring. Monitoring plans are in process and facilities are being contacted by ART Specialist regarding schedule of external monitoring/ facilitators to be monitored Internal Monitoring- Paige reiterated that each facility is to have a plan in place at this current time, January 2012, to begin internal monitoring of ART facilitators Participants were asked if there was a need for clarifications any explanationsnone reported III. Youth Surveys: If you have not completed & sent in Youth Surveys from your facility please complete and send those in to Sissie at UTK ASAP Mt. View in process of completing due to a problem with one unit- reported to Sissie via email on 1/ 19/2012 IV. Tracking and Dosage Logs Please send these logs in weekly versus holding them for several weeks Champion inquired about the shaded boxes in the forms- can this be taken off as it causes problems in copying the papers to be distributed- Gail Myers emailed Sissie and it is up to each individual Facility. The facility may shade/ un-shade the portions that are a problem in this regard but no other portions of the document are to be changed. If you want to un-shade the boxes for better use you may make this changeno other changes are to be made to the form please. Some facilities have reported the shading helps them in keeping track of their input. So this will be up to each facility to do what works best for them in printing this out. V. HIT Please make sure to administer at INTAKE & DISCHARGE Champions inquired about receiving the data from the HITS completed and turned in- staff report not seeing the results of the HIT and desire to see the information in order to use knowledge in work with you Gail Myers contacted Sissie in regards to this matter- Gail reported that data entry was behind but is currently being worked on and information will be sent to facilities in order for the use of the information just as soon as material is processed. VI. The Gathering Paige reported new addition to the Character education portion of the Gathering- use of movies- family friendly feel good movies that have a positive theme/ story line whereby Youth are able to discuss with the facilitatiors the Character Traits demonstrated throughout the movie and thereby lead the youth to discuss goals that they can/ could set forth to also demonstrate the Character traits Weekend Gathering – Saturdays and Sundays only Monday- Friday would remain the same at this time with use of the Yellow Character Education Story book, or other stories approved from previous discussions- chicken soup for the teenage soul, helpothers.org, etc… Facilities discussed concerns about supplies- dvd machines, enough dvds to show at all dorms/ areas at the facility, scheduling- but did like the idea Champ teams are asked to send in their list of suggestions in order to add to the list of movies before the next Lead Champion Meeting Paige discussed concerns voiced by champs and willingness to take back to the team to further discuss how this could be worked out at each facility in order to add this to the Character Education Portion of the Gathering.
