Pupil Parliament
December 2015
Minutes
 Money for lunch time drinks is being handed in at
the start of the day. This is working well. Some
people need to remember to go up for their second
drink if they’ve paid for it.
 Mrs R went over the list of people who need new
computer log ins.
 Mr Minty has taken down one of the boards in the
playground so far.
 Mrs R thanked the people who had brought in items
for Your Shop.
 Pupils can also wear Christmas jumpers etc on the
last day of term in addition to their slippers for
Shelter.
 Abbi let us know that her granddad had received
the chicken coop and was going to have a look at
how it goes together this weekend. Imogen has 12
chickens at home and offered to give us a little
feed.
Mrs Brennan the cleaner had told Mrs R a few weeks ago
that someone had written on the window ledges of the
girl’s toilets and she can’t get it off. Mrs R reminded the
girls to be respectful towards school property and that it
hasn’t been a long time since the toilets were refurbished.
Mrs R thanked the boys for keeping their toilets in good
order. Kelly thought it could be people out with the school
as there had been other girls in school for the Halloween
party. Mrs R will check with Mrs Brennan to see when she
noticed it.
Mrs R told everyone what the format for the party would
be and asked for suggestions for games and dances that
could be done. Suggestions were as follows:

Mrs R will discuss with the other teachers and come up
with an order.
The staff thought it would be a good idea to have party
food for lunch instead of school dinners on the day of the
party and then have pudding before Santa comes.
Suggestions for party food were:
Turkey, sandwiches, salad sticks (carrot, cucumber),
crisps, mini sausages, sausage rolls, mini pizzas
Pudding: cupcakes, biscuits, party rings, Haribo, Oreos,
berries, grapes, cookies, raisins, chocolate cake, pears,
muffins, marshmallows.
People didn’t seem generally that keen on jelly.
Pupils would like apple, orange, blackcurrant or mango
juice.
Mrs R thanked everyone for their suggestions and said
that staff would do their best to get a selection from the
above list.
Theo asked if parents were allowed to come. Mrs R said
that they were allowed to come from 2.30pm to see Santa.
Mrs R said that Reverend Dennison would be coming on
the 18th to do a Christmas assembly and thought it would
be nice to sing carols. Suggestions for carols were:
Away in a manger, Silent Night, Twelve days of Christmas,
We wish you a merry Christmas and Little donkey. Kelly
asked if Monika and she could play a carol on their
recorder for the assembly. Inga asked if she could do
something on the flute and Aiva asked if she could play a
piano piece. Mrs R thought this was a good idea and
would hold auditions on Monday with the possibility of
performing it at the Christmas concert as well.
 Mia was concerned that people were still parking in
the bus stop. Mrs R said that people are allowed to
park in the bus stop as long as it is out with the
hours stated on the sign. Mrs R stressed for pupils
to remind their parents not to park in the bus stop
during these times as pupils who come off the bus
don’t have their parents with them to make sure
they get in to the school safely like those who are
driven by car. Mrs R said that there is parking in the
village or in front of the houses next to the school
and people could walk from there.
 Aiva thought it would be fun to hold a talent show in
the school and said it was something that her last
school did. She thought that we could invite the
other schools like we do for sports. Pupils agreed
that it was a good idea. Mrs R said that we could
start off small and see how the first one goes and
then open it to other schools too. This will be looked
at again next term.

Next meeting
Merrick wanted to know if pupils could take their
bikes to school to play with in the playground. Mrs
R said that only pupils who are cycling to school
should have their bikes here as it wasn’t safe to
have some people going about on bikes while
others were trying to play. Mrs R reinforced that if
pupils do cycle to school then they need to be
locked up and not played with before or during
school. Merrick asked if bikes could be played with
after school. Mrs R said that was fine as long as noone was cycling in the car park.
 Inga was concerned that the people playing football
were telling younger ones to move their game
elsewhere and that there wasn’t fair sharing of the
outside space because of this. Mrs R invited
suggestions on how we could solve the problem.
Pupils agreed that football could be played at the
top part of the playground which was more suitable
and then other games could be played at the
bottom part.
Friday 22nd January 2016 in the school hall.
