A Feature Article: A feature article is the main article of a publication. It is almost always on the front
page of the paper. It usually catches a perspective reader's attention with a large headline which tells the
main point of the article. Feature articles also often offer a picture which provides another eye catcher to
the audience. Feature articles usually tell the story of 'breaking news' (something particularly notable which
has recently occurred). A good feature article will leave the reader saying "WOW."

An Opinion Editorial: This section of a newspaper allows a member the writing and editing staff to speak
their mind on an important issue. The member of your group who chooses this section of the paper should
choose a topic on which they want to express their own unique opinion. As you search for a good topic, try
to think of a topic which is important to you or affects your life in some way.

A Review of a Local Restaurant, New Movie, or New Album: A job for the arts enthusiast in your
group. Choose one of these things to review and evaluate it comparing it with your expectations and similar
restaurants, movies or albums. A good review will be comprehensive. Try to include as many aspects, good
or bad, from the experience you are reviewing.

Persuasive Article: This is a section of your news paper which will attempt to get your readers to act or
think a certain way. You should consider topics which are currently being debated in the news. For
example, the legalization of slot machines in your town might be a topic which could cause controversy. A
persuasive article will seek to drum up support for one side of such an argument.

An Obituary: An obituary is the section of a newspaper which tells the readers of people who have
recently died. Obituaries include the names, ages and surviving relatives of the desceased. Obituaries also
tend to include a brief account of the deceased person's life. When writing your obituaries, be creative. You
do not need to use actual identities for your obituaries.

A Current Event Article: The current event section should tell the story of a recent occurrence. You
should report as objectively as possible. Tell what exactly happened including specific details. Also explain
why this event might be important to your readers.
