Asian Pacific American Employee Association (APAEA) Emphasis Areas for FY 2013 Updated 01/16/13 calagar Background: This document describes and emphasizes focus areas that APAEA is currently working on to make progress on its mission and goals. Key Points – Key points highlight the benefits of each project, and the related activities being done to carry out the mission, goals and objectives of the organization. 2.) Measurements for success – Measurements for success will help the APAEA determine the effectiveness of the project relative to desired outcomes and identify areas for improvement. Assessments of project effectiveness should be documented at the project’s completion or annually to allow continuous organizational learning. APAEA will share the organizational learning through accomplishment reporting to external audiences. FY 2012 Focus Areas/Emphasis Items/Business Plan: Asian-Pacific American Partnerships 1.) Key Points: Expand employee collaboration with APA serving organizations Provide resources for outreach, recruitment and program delivery Generate greater awareness of APA partnerships Share cultural awareness and cross-cultural sensitivities Recognize emerging issues and opportunities with partners 2.) Measurements for success, acknowledging the following are subjective measures and more direct project measures will be developed: Developed and maintained partnership resource spreadsheet Increased partnerships, including contacts, interactions, and communications. Leveraged or identified sources of funding to support partnerships. 1|Page Membership Drive 1.) Key Points Serve as a forum for members to voice their ideas and concerns Support increased member networking capability by leveraging greater collective information Provide information on APA-related events and news Free membership 2.) Measurements for success: Increased number of members on the existing mailing list from 6/2012 to 6/2013 Increased members’ involvement and participation in projects Mentoring Project 1.) Key Points Enhance networking, mentoring, and career/personal development among members Facilitate professional and personal growth by sharing resources and networks 2.) Measurements for success: Received positive feedback from mentees and mentors regarding their engagement and satisfaction of project Multicultural Workforce Strategic Initiative (MWSI) – APA Liaison 1.) Key Points: Advocate for the establishment of an APA Liaison to work with external partners to increase targeted outreach and recruitment to Asian-Pacific communities, Asian-Pacific Universities, and other Asian-Pacific organizations Support the diversification of applicant pools for temporary, permanent & student positions Note that APAEA does not directly influence promotions or selections, and accomplishments and measurements of success is the responsibility of the APA liaison. 2.) Measurements for success: Worked with APA Liaison to increase potential partners (i.e. OCA, CAPAL, APIACU, APAHE, APANA, FAPAC) and targeted outreach and recruitment. Successfully advocated for the establishment of a liaison position.
