Page 1 of 3 Biology 280 Syllabus Grading Policy Evaluation is based upon the following criteria: Attendance & accurate record keeping. Approximately 20% Attitude & conduct. Approximately 10% Timeliness of work completed. Approximately 10% Dissection technique & correctness of cadaver dissection. Approximately 20% Thoroughness of prosection and cadaver preparation. Approximately 20% Professionalism during Surgical Demonstrations Event. Approximately 20% General Information & Requirements Weekly dissection sessions will be scheduled according to student availability. Manditory sessions include the surgical training session (~2-3 hrs.) and the Annual Surgical Demonstrations event, scheduled for Friday, May 15th. Plan on dedicating the entire afternoon (~11am-5:30pm) on that day for set-up, presentation and clean-up. The surgical training sessions will be scheduled according to the availability of the Madigan Hospital surgeons approx. 2-4 weeks before the Surgical Demonstrations. Unfortunately, there is no way to know with certainty when the surgeons will be available to come to TCC. I will give you as much advanced notice as I can (historically, this has been ~3 days), but this will likely require some schedule flexability on your part. Lab Safety All students must follow the biological science lab safety procedures and standard operating procedures established by Tacoma Community College, the Science & Engineering Department, and the instructor. Students who repeatedly or willfully violate these procedures may face sanctions, including removal from the course, a failing grade, and referral to the college for action under the Code of Student Rights and Responsibilities. The departmental safety procedures for biological science are available on the Portal at http://cms.tacomacc.edu/UserFiles/Servers/Server_6/IntranetFile/Biology%20Laborator y%20Safety%20Rules.pdf Page 2 of 3 Biology 280 Syllabus Biology 280 Protocols & Additional Safety Procedures 1.
