EMOTIONAL DISTURBANCE Programs for Students with Emotional Disturbance The Woodward Public School district currently serves elementary students who meet the criteria for special services under the category of Emotional Disturbance at multiple designated sites. In addition, middle school and high school provides services to accommodate those students who are eligible for services under this category. All students who meet the IDEA criteria for emotional disturbance receive services, not only for development of essential social and life skills, but also instruction in the core academic areas. Program goals for each student always include working toward a successful transition into the regular education environment. Teachers and other essential personnel working with these students are provided staff development specific to individual needs. Trainings include academic modifications, classroom management skills and social/emotional concerns as addressed in the required individual education plan of each student.
