Meet Dates (Wednesday April 3rd – Saturday April 6th)
While it looks like all athletes will be travelling with their families during this trip, it is my intent to
promote a TEAM TRAVEL experience as much as possible. It is my belief that the swimmers will perform
better while experiencing this meet TOGETHER AS A TEAM.
That said, the first and most important expectation that I have for all team members is that they be in
attendance for all preliminary and finals meet sessions. Exceptions can be made for swimmers
arriving in Greensboro late or departing early for the purpose of minimizing loss of school days.
Additionally, we will have a team dinner at an area restaurant on Tuesday evening. Depending on
swimmer preference, we may also share dinner together nightly during the meet (dinners delivered to the
meet site or hotel). During down time throughout the week it is my hope that our swimmers will have fun
while spending time with one another while limiting physical activity and getting as much rest as possible.
I always appreciate help from parents who are at the meet with the planning of meals that can be enjoyed
AS A TEAM.
Athlete Selection: Selection of athletes for placement took place following the conclusion of the
Wisconsin 13 & Over State Meet. Additional athletes qualified following the recent YMCA State Meet.
Travel Fund: A minimum of $150 per individual event swimmer and $75 per Relay Only swimmer will be
contributed from the YMCA Swim Team Parent Group Account to help families cover the meet travel
expenses.
DJ Travel Info: I am flying to Greensboro on Monday April 1st.
Dave’s FLIGHT INFO.
United Flight #5311 DEPARTS MKE @9:44am (to OHARE)
United Flight #3644 DEPART OHARE @1:44pm
ARRIVAL at Greensboro/High Point (GSO) @4:38
Hotel:
We currently have eleven rooms reserved at the Comfort Suites- Four Seasons ($89/night)
Comfort Suites-Four Seasons ($89/night)- 3308 Isler St., Greensboro (approx 4 minutes from venue)
336-235-4002
*** Lanette Kudis currently holds all of these reservations. Once we are certain that this is the right hotel, we will
work out a procedure for each individual family to assume responsibility for their own room reservation.
The only concern is with this hotel is that we currently only have access to five double queen /pull
out couch rooms (sleeps 6). We also have six king/pull out couch rooms (sleeps 4). If it turns out
that we need more than five two bed rooms to accommodate our group we may consider switching
to the Wingate by Wyndham or the La Quinta.
Each room has a refrigerator, microwave, flat screen plasma tv, desk/wifi/recharge device, pillow top mattresses,
free breakfast, indoor heated pool, fitness room, guest laundry, and that we could bring in food and use the common
space to gather.
Ground Transportation:
Rental cars will likely be necessary for those who fly to Greensboro.
Coach Dave will be picking up a rental car at the airport and may be available to transport a small (2-4)
mixed gender group of athletes to the pool and/or hotel from the airport for athletes that arrive on his
flight or one arriving at a similar time. Ground transportation throughout the week will be the
responsibility of each swimmers family.
MEET INFORMATION:
SEE THE MEET WEBSITE FOR FULL INFORMATION (www.ymcaswimminganddiving.org)
****The meet is indoors. The biggest consideration here is the potential for it to be cold on the pool
deck. Please prepare for that and be ready to bundle up to stay warm once you’ve warmed-up to race.
