Programme Management Plan: Technology Enhanced Learning Indicative template This document is intended to help programme teams to develop or update their technology enhanced learning strategy and to delegate tasks across the team. Programme title Date produced Most recent update Key principles Purpose of TEL on the programme Things to consider: How does Technology-Enhanced Learning (TEL) integrate with timetabled classroom sessions to provide a designed blended approach? How does the use of technology support the programme learning outcomes and future prospects of students? Is the rationale and expectations of staff and students clear for all elements of TEL being used across the programme (Moodle, audio/video, classroom interaction, assessment, etc.) How do different routes through the programme (e.g. MMU oncampus, distance, at partner institution) utilise TEL? Is there anything you’d like to highlight as particularly good, interesting or creative practice? Moodle Things to consider: Do all units use the same basic structure for their Moodle areas, and have key content items such as handbooks in the same place? How is this structure designed and supported? How is information about the use of Moodle and expectations on its use communicated to students? What is the programme policy on using electronic submission, marking and feedback for assignments? Other technologies Things to consider: What is the programme policy on recording face-to-face sessions, providing podcasts, linking to e-resources? Is there a standard approach (eg use of a standard template for handouts or slides, or particular colour schemes if appropriate)? If any classroom interaction technologies are being utilised, how is this communicated to students so they know what they require? What support needs to be in place for both staff and students to make best use of technology-enhanced learning? Is someone responsible for co-ordinating staff support and liaising with the Faculty Technology Enhanced Learning Adviser? Who? Support How are student support issues identified and addressed, and by whom? Scope of annual review of Technology-enhanced learning. For example, you might decide to consider: Was there any good practice which could be documented in the Course Improvement Plan or signalled to the CELT Good Practice Exchange? Or LRT Pedagogical or Technological Case studies Did any particular use of technology give rise to unusual or sustained problems for students or staff? Are there any issues which need to be followed up with IT Services such as software, hardware or infrastructure requests or problems? Are there any issues which need to be followed up with the Library, such as access to electronic resources? Are there any issues which need to be followed up with the TEL Adviser for the faculty, such as introduction of new technology, staff development or advice on the use of Moodle or other core MMU TEL tools? Are there any issues with student enrolment or access which need to followed up with Faculty Student and Academic Services (Programmes Office). Is any further staff development needed? If so, who will organise this? Actions resulting from annual review of TEL would normally be recorded in the Course Improvement Plan as part of the Continuous Monitoring and Improvement process. Integrating other enhancement activities Opportunities for observation and enhancing teaching practice with this plan: Peer review of TEL resources such as Moodle areas, podcasts, online workbooks, etc. Observation of online course delivery Opportunities for student partnership development with this plan: Review of student satisfaction data and comments relating to TEL Discussion with course representatives about the use of TEL on the course Encouraging and supporting students to produce TEL resources which might be used on the programme Useful links Learning Innovations team website http://lrt.mmu.ac.uk/li/ Action Plan Action Plan (delete/edit/add rows as appropriate) Task What needs to be done Use of a common approach to Moodle across the programme Investigation/use of other technologies for learning Electronic submissions, marking and feedback TEL review Staff Development Production of an agreed Moodle structure/template across the team Implementation plan Peer review and/or confirmation of implementation Identify possibilities Produce staff development and implementation plan Agree approach and guidance to students Arrange team meeting – maybe around Easter.
