2014 eLearning Adviser Scope of Work
eLearning Advisers have been employed to work on strategically important activities associated
with MyUni, and to support and encourage best practice using MyUni in the University’s blended
learning environment.

1. Faculty Activities
For three days per week equivalent, the eLearning Advisers will provide pedagogical and bestpractice support in blended learning for the Faculty of Health Sciences as per priorities negotiated
with the Associate Dean Learning and Teaching.
Types of Faculty activities the eLearning Adviser will carry out include:
a) Strategic Faculty-selected MyUni initiatives
 Contribute to strategic projects related to blended learning in the Faculty, primarily active
engagement with Faculty staff to increase their use of, and comfort with, e learning
approaches
 Specifically:
o Facilitate staff development activities to increase expertise and good practice in MyUni
o Document and communicate existing eLearning projects and instances of best practice
within the faculty
 Contribute to the development and support the implementation of a FHS eLearning Plan
 Engage with faculty to align eLearning approaches with existing learning and teaching
initiatives

b) Communication of Faculty perspectives
 Contributing the Faculty perspective to relevant Student eExperience projects, eg audit and
analyse needs of Faculty staff re functionality of MyUni and extensions/enhancement to
MyUni
 Feeding back common issues and Faculty concerns to relevant central projects and groups
so they can be logged and responded to

Types of Faculty activities the eLearning Adviser will NOT carry out include:
 Provide technical or how-to support for MyUni or other software (this is provided by TS Service
Desk)
 Provide support for teaching programs where students are not enrolled via Access Adelaide
 Develop tools or software
 Provide technical training in educational software beyond input into the Faculty requirements
for technical training (technical training in MyUni and its associated tools is provided by ITS
trainers)
 Provide one-on-one support with MyUni or design the online component of individual courses
unless that course/ program had previously been identified as a strategic priority for the Faculty
 Put course content online in MyUni for teaching staff;
 Train students in the use of MyUni (orientation sessions are available and the helpdesk is
accessible to students)
 Provide assistance with the educational use of software applications not centrally supported at
the University
2. Central Activities
For one day per week equivalent, the eLearning Advisers will work centrally in the Learning
Technologies team. Thursdays are the common all-team day for sharing faculty experiences,
concerns, progress etc. Each eLearning Adviser has a central project allocated to complete
during that time, for example, improving the pedagogical help available for MyUni, or working on a
process for evaluating educational software, etc.
3. Reporting
The eLearning Adviser's performance plans will be reviewed by their Faculty’s Associate Dean
Learning and Teaching to ensure that the Faculty’s priorities and expectations are represented
and clear. The Associate Dean Learning and Teaching will be invited to provide feedback during
the performance feedback cycle. eLearning Advisers functionally report to the Manager, Learning
Technologies.
