It an extremely common structure in Mandarin Grammar: 太 tai4 and 真 zhen1 vs. 很 Note: 太 and 真 are used in positive sentences and are more intense than 很 Ex: 你写汉字写得真好! Ni3 xie3 han4zi xie3 de zhen1 hao3! You write characters extremely well! Grammar: 就 jiu4 – indicates earliness, precision, briefness of an action. Here we can think of it as the opposite of 才 Ex: 我们七点半吃晚饭,她七点就来了 We were going to eat dinner at 7:30 but she came as early 7:00 *我们七点半吃饭,她八点才来 We were going to eat at 7:30 but she didn’t come until 8:00 Grammar: 有(一)点儿 you3 yi4 dian3r; a little bit, quite, pretty Structure: 有一点儿 is usually places in front of adj or verbs. The (一)is optional. Usually has a negative connotation. Ex: 我有一点儿不高兴 I’m a little unhappy Translation: 1.
