Fundraising & Events Coordinator For the Tyne Theatre & Opera House Preservation Trust (working as a member of the staff of Brian Debnam and Associates Ltd) Background This is an exciting time for the Tyne Theatre and Opera House Preservation Trust, with prospective funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund we plan to restore and develop the Grade1 listed Tyne Theatre and Opera House securing its future as a working theatre for the twenty first century to coincide with the theatre’s 150th Birthday year in 2017/18. The restoration will secure the theatre’s significant characteristics as a Victorian Theatre at the same time as ensuring it is fit for purpose and sustainable for the enjoyment of its heritage and the performing arts and entertainment by a wide section of society. Building on our successful tours and heritage animation programmes, we plan to develop the theatre’s capacity to develop heritage learning programmes by undertaking a living memory project, involving volunteers, and providing special events for people to experience the theatre’s rich social and theatrical history. We will begin our fundraising in late 2013 and early 2014 with special concerts involving the Vice Presidents and a structured suite of individual and corporate giving packages including the 150 Club, the corporate club, the support a seat fund and a legacy programme. We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic individual to support our events, marketing and fundraising activities. Job Description Job Title: Fundraising & Events Coordinator Reporting to: Brian Debnam; Director of Brian Debnam and Associates Ltd and Co-ordinating Consultant to the Trust The Fundraising and Events coordinator will be an essential member of the BDA Ltd and Trust team and help to execute and maximise income and exposure from existing and new events. This role calls for a proactive and reliable person who can make limited resources go far with an integrated approach. Projects will be undertaken from the planning stages through to delivery and review. Roles & Responsibilities Contribute to the research and development of new events and fundraising opportunities. Help to coordinate the development and implementation of fundraising Responsible for the organisation and execution of fundraising events. Assist with the recruitment and organisation of volunteers for fundraising events. 1 Represent the Trust at networking and industry events Ensure effective communication with fundraising volunteers, individual supporters via phone, email, and in person where required. Maintain and regularly update relevant sections on the Trust’s website and maximise the usage of social and public media to promote events. Assist in the development of fundraising and marketing materials as required. Responsible for stock checking, maintenance and dispatch of fundraising and promotional items. Maintain the Trust’s visitor database, specifically in relation to the updating of individual supporters and events participants, including accurate record keeping of activities, income received and thanking donors. Attend and contribute to team meetings and other activities as required. Person Specification Criteria Experience Essential Method of Assessment At least two years working experience in a fundraising, commercial marketing or events management environment. Working Arrangement - A Full-time employment contract for 37.5 hours per week is offered initially for a six month period. The contract may be extended for a further three years depending on the success of current fundraising initiatives by the Trust and demonstrable success in the post. We are seeking a candidate able to commence work in September 2013. Some work during evenings and weekends will be required; time off in lieu will be granted for additional hours worked on a one for one basis.
