Advances in HIV Therapy that Every Pharmacist Should Know (ACPE #P/T): Summarize current national guidelines for treatment of HIV-1, including time to initiation of antiretroviral (ARV) therapy; Describe ARV drugs approved since 2014 and their place in treatment; Outline the potential role of tenofovir alafenamide fumarate and its coformulations; Identify and describe several new ARV drugs and formulations currently in development. An Update on the Treatment of Hepatitis C Virus (ACPE # -P/T): Discuss the pathophysiology and diagnosis of Hepatitis C virus; Identify HCV patients that are appropriate for treatment; Choose an appropriate medication regimen and duration of treatment for patients with Hepatitis C virus; Provide education, including; potential side effects and drug interactions, that are commonly encountered during Hepatitis C virus treatment. Selected Updates in Pharmacy Law: Corresponding Responsibility, DEA Regulations and Medication Errors (ACPE # -P/T 1): Review the federal Controlled Substance Act; Assess the pharmacist's corresponding responsibility for controlled substance prescriptions; Describe the record keeping requirements under the federal Controlled Substance Act; Utilize strategies to reduce medication errors for improvement of patient health and pharmacy compliance.
