1.JACOB RIFFLE
Jacob Riffle was born in Germany about 1725 and died in Lewis County VA in
1816. He arrived at the port of Philadelphia, PA aboard the ship "Phoenix", John
Mason commanding, August 28, 1750.
Settlement of Jacob's estate was recorded November 2, 1816 in Lewis County
VA Will Book #1, pages 2-4. He married Dorothy ------ in Harrison County VA
about 1768. Dorothy was born about 1745 and died in Braxton County in 1817.
Jacob and his brother Francis were some of the earliest settlers in present
day Randolph County WV. Francis was killed by Indians about 1783 and Jacob and
his family moved to Braxton County VA after 1816.

Jacob Riffle Jr., a son of Jacob and Dorothy Riffle, was born
in Randolph County VA (WV) February 26, 1774 and died in Braxton
County WV January 7, 1864. He married Elizabeth Boarer in Randolph
County August 2, 1795. Elizabeth, a daughter of Jacob and Barbara
(Judy) Boarer, was born in Hampshire County VA about 1776 and died in
Braxton County VA (WV) about 1832.
He married Margaret "Peggy" Bailey in Lewis County VA (WV)
February 20, 1834. Peggy, a daughter of Quinton Bailey, was born in
Va about 1794.
Jacob's will, dated March 23, 1857, is on file in the Braxton County
Wv court house in Will Book 3, page 315.

He married Elizabeth Conrad in 1821. Elizabeth, a daughter of Benjamin
and Barbara (Hedric) Conrad, was born about 1805 and died January 14,
1883.

occupations included farmer, saw mill operator, politician (he was a
staunch Democrat), turkey dealer, and an agent for the Rock of Ages
Monument Company.
