Intelligence Community Center for Academic Excellence Summer High School Program July 13 – July 24, 2014 Application THE PROGRAM ICCAE is offering a two-week non-residential program for current high school students. Its main objective is to stimulate interest in careers in the intelligence community, bio-security, biotechnology and environmental, sciences. Students may have an opportunity to take Page | 1 introductory course(s) in Arabic and Hindi. Through the summer program, students will: gain first-hand experience in research conducted under the direction of a research scientist; conduct a case study research project ranging from studies on bioterrorism, biotechnology, horticulture and animal sciences to air quality, food and nutrition and international trade; gain exposure to a number of structured activities including field trips, workshops and laboratory demonstrations, and instruction in career development, technical and scientific writing and public speaking. SELECTION CRITERIA/ELIGIBILITY To qualify for this academically rewarding program, students must: show an interest in biotechnology, environmental sciences, and in pursuing a college education; be at least a rising freshmen in high school with a cumulative (weighted) GPA of 2.0 or better (graduating Seniors are also encouraged to apply) be a citizen of the United States of America; and, agree to abide by Program rules and regulations. BENEFITS In addition to spending two weeks on Norfolk State University and the opportunity to engage in scholarly activities. The program pays for all associated program activity fees.
