CP Biology – Online Food Web Activity
Objective: Students will be able to construct a food web representing a biological community including 10 organisms.
Directions:
1.
Go to http://www.vtaide.com/png/foodchains.htm
2.
Read the information about food chains and food webs.
3.
Click on “Create a Food Web”
4.
Click and drag the animals and arrows to form a possible food web. a.
Arrows should be drawn from food source to food consumers.
5.
You must include at least 10 organisms in your food web.
6.
It needs to be realistic – if you do not know what an animal consumes, look it up!
7.
At the end, you can discard excess pictures into the Recycle Bin, and then click on the printer icon (top right) to print your food web.
8.
After printing, label each organism as a producer, primary consumer, secondary consumer, tertiary consumer, or decomposer.
9.
Your food web should be finished by the end of the period. We will use it for tomorrow’s activity so make sure you keep it in your folder for tomorrow.
