Parents,
We are very excited to have your child participating in King’s Warriors soccer this season! We are building schedules for middle school, girls, varsity boys, and college/adult men’s teams. It is a privilege to work with your child as we seek to train them not only in soccer but also in character that will help them be better people. Practices will be held Mondays and Thursdays at 6:00pm beginning Monday, August 3 rd at the 4-H Camp in Forest Hill. We will alternate between the 4-H Camp in Forest Hill on Mondays and East River Soccer Complex in Bluefield on
Thursdays. Please have your child at practices and games on time or have them contact their coach if they will be late or cannot come. This year we will include a day camp on Saturday,
August 8 th (10am to about 8:30pm) and an overnight camp beginning Friday, August 14 th at
6pm through Saturday, August 15 th around 5pm; these will be held at the 4-H Camp in Forest
Hill.
Thank you once again for allowing your child to play with us this fall. We hope to develop a good relationship with our players and their families. If you are interested in getting involved in our soccer program as a parent, please ask your child’s coach for more information.
Go online to wvkingswarriors.org for complete information. There you will find all necessary forms; please print these, provide all required information, and turn them in with your fees at our first practice on Monday, August 3 rd .
Sincerely,
King’s Academy/King’s Warriors Soccer

Our Philosophy in Scripture
KING - We serve the King of kings.
The Lord is the true God, he is the living God, and an everlasting King. Jeremiah 10:10.
The Lord is King for ever and ever. Psalm 10:16.
Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God. Psalm 5:2.
For God is my King of old, working salvation in the midst of the earth. Psalm 74:12.
Unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honor and glory for ever and ever…Jesus
Christ…is…the King of Kings, and Lord of Lords…. I Timothy 1:17, 6:14, 15.
WARRIORS – We are called to stand and fight for truth in a dark and dying world.
.…a time of war, and a time of peace. Ecclesiastes 3:8.
He gathered…chosen men, which were warriors, to fight…. II Chronicles 11:1.
No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who has chosen him to be a soldier. II Timothy 2:4.
Let the high praises of God be in their mouth and a two-edged sword in their hand... Psalm 149:6.
For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds.
II Corinthians 10:4.
SOCCER (sports) – God frequently used sports metaphors to convey a message.
He will surely…toss thee like a ball. Isaiah 22:18.
Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.
I Corinthians 9:24.
Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: But they that wait upon the
Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk; and not faint. Isaiah 40:30, 31.
(Wrestling.) Ephesians 6:10-18.
…Let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:1, 2.
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith… II Timothy 4:7.
CLUB – We need each other.
Two are better than one…For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow…And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken. Ecclesiastes 4:9, 10, 12.
When men are cast down, then thou shalt say, There is lifting up. Jeremiah 22:29.
By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. John 13:35.
Show mercy and compassions every man to his brother. Zechariah 7:9.
He hath showed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God? Micah 6:8.
If any man desire to be first, the same shall be last of all, and servant of all. And he took a child, and set him in the midst of them: and when he had taken him in his arms, he said unto them, Whosoever shall receive one of such children in my name, receiveth me: and whosoever shall receive me, receiveth not me, but him that sent me. Mark 9:35b-37.
But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Ye know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them. But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister;
And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant: Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for
many. Matthew 20:25-28.

July, 2015
Our fall season begins with our first practice on Monday, August 3 rd , 6:00pm, at Summers Co. 4-H Camp.
Practices will be held on Mondays and Thursdays at 6:00pm and will usually last till dark. Always bring
shinguards and water to practices.
This organization exists to provide you soccer opportunities you might not otherwise have. The mission of Countryside Baptist Church and The Nehemiah Group is “to glorify God and serve others.” In fulfilling that mission, it is our desire to present the gospel of Christ to every participant. We want to help you grow and develop not only as soccer players, but as outstanding citizens as well. Consider the following five areas.
1.
Commitment – arrive on time for practice; stay till practice ends (includes devotional time); be present and prepared for games.
2.
Responsibility – take care of your fees, paperwork, and equipment.
3.
Respect – respect parents, fans, coaches, referees, and players, young and old, teammates, and opponents.
4.
Leadership – older players will be expected to assist in the development of skills and confidence of younger players.
5.
Service – help with field preparation (lining fields, flags, goals, cleanup); set up and storage of equipment for practices and games; offer help with coaching younger players; assist in the UPWARD program by refereeing and coaching younger players’ games.
The Charge for the fall season is $35.
The fee is small because Countryside Baptist Church and The Nehemiah Group, Inc., pay most of the team expenses, including field rental, maintenance/mowing, and equipment (e.g. balls, goals, nets, flags).
Please consider your conduct.
No abusive or foul language – this applies to everyone the entire time you are at any of the church-sponsored activities.
No possession or use of alcohol, drugs, or tobacco products at any of the church sponsored activities.
Participants are asked to dress modestly.
No loud and/or offensive music.
Shinguards are required for all practices and games.
You may contact me or Jonathan at any time with questions or concerns.

KWS Important Additional Information
Unless there is a game or some other scheduled activity, practices will be held every Monday and
Thursday beginning Monday, August 3 rd , 2015, and running through Monday, October 26 th . You are expected to be there and ready to go by 6:00pm. Practices will run for 2-2 ½ hours; you will be expected to stay the entire time until you are dismissed by coaches. You are also expected to come prepared; this means bringing your training gear (shirt, shorts, cleats, running shoes, shinguards,
WATER).
Since we only practice twice a week, you are highly encouraged to train on your own (fitness training [running, weight lifting, etc.], technical training [ball work, dribbling, juggling, etc.]). We will follow the pro team’s system of training as much as possible this year. We will play in the pro uniform. The $35 fee covers only a fraction of the costs; get it in before getting your uniform.
Please let us know if this is a significant financial hardship for anyone; we want you to play and will work with you.
Along with our varsity schedule, we will have a girls schedule, boys middle school schedule and college club schedule. Girls will be eligible in grades 7-12. Varsity may include any players through grade 12, who do not turn 19 years old before August 1 st , and who are approved by the coaching staff. College club will include varsity boys (as approved by the coaching staff) through adult. There will be quite a bit of overlap; we are trying to provide as much playing opportunity as possible.
Details about the National Tournament through NACA will follow. The cost per player last year was
$110; it should be about the same.
As members of the Association of Christian Schools International, our student-athletes will participate in sports ministry classes at each practice.
Application Fee: $35 (once per season)
There may be other fees involved for tournaments, leagues, insurance, etc.
Uniform: Each athlete will receive one uniform, and will be responsible for own personal equipment
(cleats, shinguards, etc.).
Commitment to Games and Practices: We practice twice per week, Mondays and Thursdays,
6:00pm, for about 2 hours. You will be expected to notify one of the coaches/managers if you have to be absent or late.
Church Attendance: Since this is part of a church ministry, we want you to understand what motivates us. For some of you this will already be a part of your routine. For others, it will be a new experience. We request attendance at a minimum of 2 (two) church services/month. If you already have a home church, that’s fine. If you don’t, you are welcome to attend our sponsor church,
Countryside Baptist, Forest Hill. We even have a special youth service once a month that would count toward your required attendances. If you would like to fulfill your attendance requirements closer to home, we would be happy to recommend churches of like faith near you.
Academics: o We will provide mentoring/tutoring as desired. Participants will be required to provide updates regarding their school work to coaches/managers. We encourage parental involvement in this process. o You will be required to participate in sports ministry classes at practices.
Community Service: We want to teach young men and women to give of themselves, not just be recipients. Participants will get to choose their service, but some possibilities could be assisting youth soccer teams as coaches and referees, service projects for elderly and handicapped, nursing home visitation, roadside trash cleanup, etc. The coaches/managers will expect regular reports from each player.
