After a summer of gardening and home improvement projects, many people have paint, used motor oil, pesticides
and fertilizers cluttering up the garage or cabinets. Don't throw them in the trash. Instead, bring them to the city of
Aurora’s Household Chemical Roundup from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, at Aurora Central Facilities,13645
E. Ellsworth Ave.
Throwing household chemicals into the trash or down storm drains pollutes our waterways. Aurora residents can do
their part by turning in their household chemicals at this year's roundup where they can either be properly disposed
of, recycled or reused.
Only products from Aurora households are accepted and proof of residency is required. No business waste is
accepted. The event is free to all Aurora residents, with the exception of a $3 fee per tire. Visit the Clean Water
Programs web page for a list of accepted items.
To avoid the long wait lines, come in the afternoon when there are fewer people.
For more information, contact Mary Dawson at 303-739-7372 or mdawson@auroragov.org.
Mattress recycling also will be available on site along the right side of the entry to the Household Chemical Roundup.
The cost is $10 per mattress or box spring.
Spring Back Recycling—a local affiliate of a national company—is associated with the Stout Street Foundation in
Denver, which provides counseling services to people receiving treatment for substance abuse. Part of the recovery
process involves participating in a work environment where job skills can be re-learned while practicing sobriety and
exercising independence and dependability. The money earned by the workers goes directly to the Stout Street
Foundation to cover their rehabilitation costs.
For more information on the mattress recycling event, call 303-739-7173.
