FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Date: Sept. 20, 2013
Household Chemical Roundup, Mattress Recycling events rescheduled for Oct. 26
AURORA, Colo. – Aurora’s Household Chemical Roundup and Mattress Recycling events, which were postponed
due to the flood, have been rescheduled from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 26 at the Aurora Central Facilities, 13645 E.
Ellsworth Ave.
The Household Chemical Roundup is free to all Aurora residents only, with the exception of a $3 fee per tire.
The mattress recycling event for both residents and nonresidents will charge $10 per mattress or box spring.
The Household Chemical Roundup will accept only products from Aurora households, and proof of residency is
required. No business waste is accepted. Visit www.aurorawater.org for a list of accepted items.
Throwing household chemicals into the trash or down storm drains pollutes our waterways. Aurora residents can do
their part by turning in their household chemicals at this year's roundup where they can either be properly disposed
of, recycled or reused.
To avoid the long wait lines, come in the afternoon when there are fewer people.
Volunteers are still needed for this event. In addition to lunch, volunteers don’t need to wait in line to drop off
chemicals. Volunteers can register online at www.aurorawater.org.
For more information on the Household Chemical Roundup, contact Mary Dawson at 303-739-7372 or
mdawson@auroragov.org.
Mattress recycling will be available on site along the right side of the entry to the Household Chemical Roundup.
Residents who wish to recycle household chemicals may rejoin the entry line near the Aurora Central Facilities gate
while everyone else will turn left to exit.
Spring Back Recycling—a local affiliate of a national company—is associated with the Stout Street Foundation in
Denver, which provides counseling services to substance abusers. Part of the recovery process involves participating
in a work environment where job skills can be re-learned while practicing sobriety and exercising independence and
dependability. The money earned by the workers goes directly to the Stout Street Foundation to cover their
rehabilitation costs.
For more information on the mattress recycling event, call 303-739-7173.
