Hi Families! I hope everyone had a nice, sunny weekend! I'm crossing my fingers that the warm weather sticks around for a while. I'm not ready for the cold yet! I wanted to let you know that if you signed up to volunteer in the classroom, I will begin making our volunteer schedule in October. I usually begin intervention groups after our initial testing is done (ours should be completed this week), and this year I would like to begin after conferences. Also, our conferences will be held on Wednesday, September 30. I will be sending home a scheduled 15 minute time with each child this week. Please send this back to school as soon as possible to let me know if your time works for you, or if you need to reschedule. We are so excited to be able to have conferences this year! It's always nice to get to sit down with parents and chat! Our plans for this week in math are to explore multiplying and dividing by 10 and 9, while continuing to review our 5's and 2's. The students may take longer to work through both multiplication and division facts at the same time, as they continue to make those conceptual connections; however, we have found that teaching both concepts together actually facilitates those meaningful connections. Please continue to help your child work through these concepts, realizing that struggles are okay! They are all learning something new and challenging! If you have concerns, please let me know. In our English, Language arts block, we are working on sequencing main events, as well as, parts of a dictionary, commas in dates and place names, and subjects and predicates. The students created their spelling list today, using the consonant, vowel, consonant, silent e pattern. Dumbledore *4. language Also, just a reminder from Ms. Dye: We want to let parents know that we don’t have a way to heat up their child’s lunch during the day. In the past, we put a microwave in the lunchroom for the students to use. However, students were heating up things that shouldn’t be in a microwave and it ended up getting broken. We don’t have anyone to supervise this during lunch, so we wanted you to know at the beginning of the school year.
