The Pathobiology Department, Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position. POSITION: Anatomic Veterinary Pathologist, Tenure-Track RANK: Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum qualifications include D.V.M. degree (or equivalent), Ph.D. degree in veterinary pathology or an allied discipline, and Diplomate status in the American College of Veterinary Pathologists. Although applicants with board-eligibility are invited to apply, hiring will be dependent on Diplomate status by the start date. Desired qualifications include a record of research scholarship and excellence in didactic classroom or small group instruction. The candidate must possess excellent written and interpersonal communication skills. RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful candidate will be expected to participate in the anatomic pathology service (necropsies of in-hospital cases, biopsies from both in-house and mail-in sources), train residents and graduate students, teach in the professional curriculum, and contribute to the research mission of the College. ACTIVITIES: Research programs exist in aquatic pathobiology, molecular virology and bacteriology, molecular diagnostics, food safety, pathogen detection, basic and applied immunology, parasitology, platelet pathophysiology, molecular genetics, oncology, pathogenetic mechanisms of infectious diseases, embryo-pathogen interactions, epidemiology, poultry pathology, and neuropathology. In addition to research, diagnostic services in the department include anatomic and clinical pathology, parasitology, microbiology, virology, and molecular diagnostics. University core facilities support advanced microscopy and imaging, laser capture microdissection, multispectral imaging, in vivo imaging, and flow cytometryFACS. In addition, through institutional collaboration with the Hudson-Alpha Institute for Biotechnology, a full array of genomic sequencing and functional genomic technologies is available. APPOINTMENT: Starting salary and appointment will be commensurate with professional and academic credentials and experience.
