NAAAP-Seattle Directors
Thank you for your interest in the NAAAP-Seattle Elections!
The following application package is for the available positions on the NAAAP-Seattle Director.
As a Director, you will work closely with the members of the leadership to guide and grow an
organization dedicated to connecting Asian American professionals through professional
development, networking, and community outreach. We sincerely appreciate your enthusiasm
and look forward to both your participation in the election process and your contribution to this
organization.
About the National Association of Asian American Professionals (NAAAP):
The National Association of Asian American Professionals is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization
with more than 30 chapters across the United States and Canada. NAAAP-Seattle is the Seattle
Chapter of the National Association of Asian American Professionals (NAAAP), formerly known as
Asian MBA, was founded in 1979.
NAAAP-Seattle is dedicated to the improvement of the Asian American community by
promoting leadership, career development, educational exchange, professional networking,
social networking, and civic responsibilities.
Furthermore, NAAAP-Seattle has a network with more than 4,500 members in chapters across the
country. The membership is open to all interested in the Asian American community, regardless
of ethnicity, socioeconomic status or creed. Current members include individuals from a range
of professional backgrounds that include managers, entrepreneurs, and community leaders.
About the NAAAP-Seattle Directors:
The NAAAP-Seattle Directors set direction, determines goals and priorities and develops events
and activities in their Committees. There are 10 Directors, each whom serves for two years in an
important leadership capacity. The Directors do not have voting rights like the NAAAP-Seattle
Board. In order to preserve continuity, Directors begin their calendar terms (January through
December) with staggered terms. (Five Directors begin their terms in one year, and five Directors
beginning their terms the following year.)
Ideally, prospective Directors will have had experience in a professional or community volunteer
role and still have a passion for leading working with others to make a difference. We
encourage people from all backgrounds and functions to be a part of NAAAP. Previous
Directors and experienced leaders should consider applying for the NAAAP-Seattle Board.

About the Responsibilities of a Director:






Make a meaningful contribution to the organization and promote NAAAP-Seattle’s
mission
Attend leadership meetings and functions, such as special events; serve on committees
and offer to take on special assignments
Be informed about the organization’s mission, services, policies, and programs
Inform others about the organization; this may also include attending other non-profit or
community organizations’ fundraising dinners
Follow conflict of interest and confidentiality policies
Assist the Board and Directors in carrying out its fiduciary responsibilities

Application Instructions:


You must be a current NAAAP-Seattle member to be eligible to run for Elections.
All Board positions are for a two year term that begins on January 1st. Applicants may
apply for multiple Director positions, but may only serve in one Director position at a time.

To apply, please send an email to elections@naaapseattle.org with the following
attachments:
o A completed NAAAP-Seattle Elections application form
o A copy of your resume (2 pages maximum).

All applications for NAAAP-Seattle Director positions are due to the Elections Committee
at elections@naaapseattle.org.
On Election Day, each candidate will be asked to present a 5-minute presentation on
why he or she is the best candidate for each respective position. A 10-minute question
and answer period for each candidate will follow for each Director position.
