This document is a manual for the pure MSI installation of Coach.
1 Installation
Before installation you can adjust adjust properties of MSI with an MSI editor (such as Orca).
Alternatively you can pass on properties if you run from command line :
msiexec /i <My MSI> LICENSENAME=<My Name> LICENSECODE=<My Code> INSTALLDIR=<My
Installation Folder>
Note put quotes as needed. Append /quiet to the command for silent installation.
Make sure you have the latest CMA public keys installed for quiet installations.
Administrative rights are required.
Important: Make sure entire process is run under one administrative account.
If you just double click the MSI in Windows Explorer under an account with administrative rights it
may fail as part of the installation will be run under normal account and a part elevated.
If you run from command prompt started with run as administrator the installation process will run
under one administrative account avoiding any problems.
1.1 Installation types
Meaning of short names :
x86 This is Intel based 32 Bits Processors.
x64 This is Intel Based 64 Bits Processors (also known as x64, x86_64 and AMD64).
i64 This is Itanium 64 bits Processors (also known as IA-64).
Use x86 for 32-bits OS systems and x64 for 64-bits OS systems unless you know you have Itanium
based 64 bit processor.
1.2 Silent installation
Install the CMA certificates first (see below). Use the /quiet option for the msiexec command.
msiexec /i <My MSI> /quiet LICENSENAME=<My Name> LICENSECODE=<My Code> INSTALLDIR=<My
Installation Folder>
For installation without device drivers (as of 28-1-2016) set property NOLOWLEVELDRIVER to 1. i.e. :
msiexec /i <My MSI> /quiet NOLOWLEVELDRIVER =1 LICENSENAME=<My Name> LICENSECODE=<My
Code>
2 Configurable properties

If the username remains “0” or is empty a dialog will popup asking for the name and code.
If the LICENSENAME is set it will be used and no dialog will appear.
NOLOWLEVELDRIVER
: set to 1 if you don’t want to install any device drivers
(i.e.: msiexec /i <msi> NOLOWLEVELDRIVER=1 )
3 Certificates
The CMA public certificates can be downloaded from here
Announcement from Microsoft:
On Windows 7 platforms and above, the following are new guidelines from Microsoft:




Microsoft will no longer allow new SHA-1 code signing certificates to be used for signing files on
Windows 7 and above starting Jan. 1, 2016.
Files signed previously with a SHA-1 certificate will continue to work on Windows 7 and above for an
additional year as long as they were time-stamped before January 1, 2016.
Windows 7 and Server 2008 R2 will require a hotfix for SHA-256 support.
Starting on Jan. 1, 2017, all SHA-1 signed files will be blocked on Windows 7 and above, regardless
of when they were time-stamped.
On Vista and Server 2008 platforms:



Microsoft will execute end of life support for Vista on April 2017, and for Server 2008 on January
2020.
SHA-1 certificates will be supported through the end-of-life for these operating systems.
There will be limited support for SHA-256 on these platforms which will require a patch and only allows
for downloads or installations of SHA-256 signed content.
