Dear Parents and Carers,
As you may know, our Year 5 children have been invited to take part in the ‘Here Comes the Summer’ singing
festival at the Sheffield Cathedral on July 7th 2015. It should be a wonderful afternoon and parents are invited to attend.
Initially the organisers are allowing one parent ticket per child. Please indicate on the attached slip if you would like a ticket. If
you would like more than one ticket, please state the number of additional tickets you would like – as the cathedral will try and
provide extra tickets if they become available. Parents are requested to make their own way to the cathedral unless you wish
to help out with the trip - please contact us to arrange this beforehand.
The classes will be travelling by tram and will leave school at around 11:30. The event is scheduled to finish around
3:00pm so we should be back at school for around 3:45pm. We will make every effort to arrive back on time, but this will
be dependent upon traffic conditions, and we ask for your consideration in case should we arrive back a few minutes late. Your
child will need to wear their school uniform and have a suitable coat for the weather conditions on the day. We will be having a
picnic beforehand so please send your child with a packed lunch. If your child is entitled to free school meals and you would
like the school to provide a lunch please indicate on the attached slip.
If you wish to collect your child from the cathedral please indicate this on the slip below. You must sign your child out
with the teacher before you take them and if you wish anyone else to collect them on your behalf you must arrange this with the
class teacher beforehand - please ensure you collect children promptly as we will not be able to wait around after the event.
The cost of the trip will be: £1.40
Educational visits provide valuable learning experiences which we use to bring the curriculum to life for our pupils. We
believe they truly are a worthwhile investment. Music is an important part of the curriculum and the children are very excited
about getting the chance to perform with a live band in front of an audience.
You must sign and return the slip below by 26th June 2015 in order for your child to be allowed to go on the trip.
Cheques are to be payable to Charnock Hall Primary School, or you may send cash in an envelope marked Y5 Cathedral Trip,
with your child’s name on.
Please contact us if you have any further questions.
Yours faithfully,
Gary Rossiter
