OVERVIEW:
RainTree Oncology has created a unique, aggregated data compilation representing RainTree’s
nationwide footprint community oncology practices. RainTree Oncology has developed a best in class
data set and technology platform that transforms clinical oncology data into actionable information.
This platform and the related analytics are a part of the RainTree Analytics suite of data products.
POSITION PURPOSE:
The Network Engineer role reports to the IT Manager and is responsible for providing and supporting
technology infrastructure for both RainTree corporate needs as well as the RainTree Analytics suite of
products. The role has been developed as a support position that will be hands on as needed across
systems, storage, network and security and also provide direction and strategy for all infrastructure
related services.
The Network Engineer will communicate with all areas of the company and will work with both
commercial and technical teams to implement product requirements relevant to the infrastructure.
Critical job functions include technical expertise, innovation driven approaches, ability to execute,
measure and refine, and to work in a fast paced environment.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:







Key role in the development of functional strategies and objectives
Provide primary leadership in the information security domain to ensure the protection
and privacy of all RainTree related data/infrastructure.
Provide key support to systems and storage team members
Provide key support around enterprise applications where necessary
Install, maintain and support LAN/WAN and Security infrastructure including Routers,
Switches, Firewalls, WiFi controllers, Wan Optimizers, VPN and VoIP solutions using best
practices
Plan and deploy architectural improvements that will improve performance and
reliability of the network and/or fix any network deficiencies
Provide network designs for enterprise wide and branch office infrastructure initiatives

Proactively research, analyze and recommend new technologies to meet changing
business needs, improve the infrastructure’s uptime, performance and reliability.
Secures network systems by establishing and enforcing policies
Monitor and optimize network performance for scalability, reliability and usability
Effectively uses existing tools to quickly resolve networking and security issues
Effectively work as part of a team to meet team goals and objectives
Participate in team projects in both a contributor and lead role
Possess excellent problem solving skills
Perform and maintain proper documentation
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
















5+ years in a network role supporting production enterprise environment
5+ years in an information security leadership role
3+ years firewall administration experience
2-3 years in a departmental or broader leadership role
Experience with designing and implementing converged networks including MPLS, QoS,
VoIP, Wireless and VPN technologies including IPsec and DMVPN Hands on experience
administering Cisco Nexus switches, Routers, ASA Firewalls
Working knowledge of CA/PKI infrastructure
Working knowledge Mulitcast, BGP, WAN Optimization and Load-balancing
technologies are beneficial.
Possess strong knowledge and understanding of different applications and protocols
accessed through VPN and firewall appliances
Extensive knowledge of switching and routing including RIP, EIGRP, BGP, MPLS
Solid understanding of industry-standard network design principles and best practices
Strong ability to troubleshoot complex multi-vendor network issues in the LAN and
WAN Experience with network diagnostic, management and monitoring tools
Ability to partner with staff, peers, and other cross functional teams to accomplish
goals, objectives and to identify and resolve problems
Highly motivated individual with passion for learning/sharing information
Must be detail oriented, task driven and have excellent interpersonal, verbal and
written communication skills
Experience with Checkpoint firewalls, F5 BIG IP devices is plus
Working knowledge of VMWare, VoIP
OTHER POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to travel (estimated at less than 20%)
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Employee frequently works in a professional office environment with lots of computer equipment, office
machines, and moderate amounts of noise and activity. Employee may occasionally work at client
locations and may occasionally be required to travel. The work environment is fast-paced and
demanding. Off-shift, weekend and overtime duties may be required as assigned by the manager.
