RE:
September Head Start Report
Classrooms are getting new touchscreen computers. New items are being placed on playgrounds
including new playhouses, musical instruments, natural exploration, sand and water tables.
Renovations at Louise B. Royal Center are moving forward. By the end of December it is
expected that the center will have new bathrooms, kitchen, flooring, paint, fence, doors, and
renovations will be done to the deck and roof.
We have applied to Early Learning Coalition to be able to use School Readiness (also known as
subsidized childcare) dollars to support keeping some centers/classrooms open until 5:00 and
6:00 pm. Once implemented, these funds will also be used for the non-federal share match.
Five Year Grant
As a condition for all five year grants on the Notice of Award (NoA), each grantee must
participate in this OHS-sponsored single audit webcast within six months of the start of the
project period. Board members, fiscal staff, and other agency leaders will gain a greater
understanding of the purpose and importance of the annual audit to their Head Start program’s
fiscal health. We must complete this by December 31, 2015. “A-133 Audit Training Webcast:
Understanding the Importance of Your Annual Audit and How the Audit Process Can Strengthen
Your Organization” can be accessed by going to: http://eclkc.ohs.acf.hhs.gov/hslc/grants/5-yrcycle/audit-webcast.html .
Credit for Webcast: To receive credit toward this grant condition, the grantee/participant must
fill out the registration form below the webcast viewer. Our grant number is 04CH10135. The
webcast is three hours long. It may not be viewed for credit from a mobile or tablet device. If
you view the webcast in full screen, please remember to fill out the registration form when you
exit full screen mode. If you participate please send me an email indicating that you did and that
you completed the registration form so I can have a record of this. Thank you.
