Context of Work
CoolTan Arts is looking for a dynamic passionate historical walk leader to be responsible for coordinating our monthly walks. You will have group leadership skills, a passion for
communicating and delivering ‘innovation’. Be professionally qualified with a degree and / or
relevant experience in public arts, performance, storytelling, public speaking, history, first aid.
You will need excellent people skills, networking, public speaking and be able to converse with
a wide range of people. A can-do and positive attitude is essential.
Purpose of Job:
The CoolTrade Tourist Walks ‘Southwark’s Hidden Stories’ covers mental health promotion,
history, story telling, performance/live art. Your work will be over seen by the Chief Executive,
CoolTrade Tourist Walks project worker and CoolTan board. You will plan, manage, implement
and promote the walks, to encourage, learning, public consultation & engagement that
promotes and fosters mental health awareness, well-being, and be responsible for extending
the scope and impact of our services both regionally and nationally.
Tasks and Responsibilities: Walk Organiser
1. Main tasks and skills
 Lead and recruit a group of volunteers who identify with mental ill health to become walk
leaders run monthly and weekly public walks, book training and develop a high level of
expertise
 Provide information for the CoolTrade Tourist Walks ‘Southwark’s Hidden Stories’

business plans and marketing strategy
Developing the branding of new CoolTrade Tourist walks
Provide evaluation for funding bids
Develop three tourist walks relating to Charlie Chaplin, David Bowie and William Blake
including piloting, costing and marketing (with the aid of communications team) with an
aim to starting rollout in 2016 for CoolTan 25th Anniversary.
Using established and new research to create CoolTrade Tourist Walks
Lead, inspire and manage the volunteers, participants and partners ensuring effective
teamwork and communication to deliver of the project aims, targets and outcomes.
Liaise as and when is required with internal and with external agencies and individuals to
deliver the required outcomes of specific projects.
Run 1 x 2 hour tourist walk each week (except in first month of establishing the
programme); 2 hour Volunteer meeting per week ; 6 hours research planning and piloting
walks per week. 1 x 8 hours preparation for launch event per year.
Working with other CoolTan staff to recruit, support and oversee the training of walk
leaders and project planning group
Work with other staff, volunteers, at CoolTan to ensure the walks all run smoothly and
adhere to health and safety.

2. Networking and Partnership building
 Proactively seek out, suggest and promote opportunities for public, partner and supporter
engagement in project delivery
 Build engagement opportunities into the entire remit of the CoolTrade Tourist Walks
‘Southwark’s Hidden Stories’ programme.
3. Marketing and promotion
 Champion and promote CoolTrade Tourist Walks ‘Southwark’s Hidden Stories’ initiative
locally, regionally, nationally and internationally.
 Work with Communications Officer to publicise walks

 To be committed to the aims and values of the CoolTan Arts
 Contribute to meetings, discussions and plans about the running and development of the
Charity
 To maintain good communication with colleagues, service users, volunteers and partner
agencies
