Lake Street, 2nd floor Community Room Time Topic Discussion Leader Call to Order Marcus Genzlinger ● Approval of March 2014 minutes Dwight Carlson1st Judy Shields 2nd Ward 10 Update Lisa Bender -Nicollet Avenue Project is still in negotiation. -Support for homeless shelters to not have a religious affiliation is awaiting a decision. -Curbside composting will be rolled out very soon. -MN Bike Festival in Uptown in June has found funding - Calhoun Square is moving forward with a new entrance -CARAG partnering with Calhoun Square on outside activities -29the Street project looks like it will happen in 2016-more like plaza, curbless street - City Hall looking at work place rights and minimum wage, long term looking at Protected bikeway from 26th to 28th -Kmart site still looking for final approval, needs appraisal, big investment in streets Cowboy Jack’s Update Anne Loff -Management is very aware of the noise concerns and is addressing them as they build out. -There will be an outdoor upper patio. -Management is looking forward to working with the neighborhood to insure smooth business closing time issues -Opening date is scheduled for September 2015 -No sidewalk dining -Roll up windows, kitchen in basement -Have total of 12 locations, mostly in MN Pre Art Fair Project Proposal - Vote Maude Lovelle -Project proposal for CANvas Uptown was presented for Board for approval. Project is a promotion for local businesses prior to and during the art fair using the decorating of paint cans (gallon metal cans) by either the business or by artists solicited for no cost. This project was voted for approval. Adopt-A-Block Review Ted Stephany -Adopt-A-Block is being approached with a different direction. Supplies will be made available to the community throughout the year and available for pick up at the UA office at no cost. -2016 collaborations will be pursued with CARAG and Earth Day. Membership Judy Shields -Concentration on renewals and new membership were discussed. Each Board Member signed up for outreach to new businesses and former members. -Update to Membership will be discussed at next meeting. Financial Update Mike Finkelstein No report given Association Strategic Direction Change Marcus Genzlinger -Executive Committee is proposing a redesign of the vision and mission of the Uptown Association to insure viability for the future. This is required to insure financial security of association and provide UA staff with direction -Projects past and present are being reviewed due to staffing and volunteer time and financial success. -Focus of Uptown Association is being driven to a more fiscally responsible Uptown Art Fair. -Membership will remain a focus.
