Center for Southwest Research 2015-2016 UNM Graduate Fellowships Clinton P. Anderson Fellowship In the University Libraries Center for Southwest Research The University of New Mexico The Clinton P. Anderson Fellowship is awarded annually to a graduate student in a discipline related to the study of the history and culture of the Southwest. This year’s fellowship is funded by the Anderson Endowment of the University Libraries. The fellowship honors Senator Clinton P. Anderson for his generous donation of Western Americana, Native Americana, rare books, and personal papers to the University Libraries. The Anderson Reading Room, the main reference and reading room of the Center for Southwest Research (CSWR), is named for the Senator. Duties and Responsibilities The Anderson Fellow assists with CSWR reference and instruction as well as other public services in collaboration with CSWR staff. The Anderson Fellow will be trained to assist in providing reference services to researchers in the Anderson Reading Room. The fellowship also involves assisting with the development and teaching of orientation sessions at the CSWR for UNM classes and outside groups seeking to use CSWR collections and resources. The Anderson Fellow will also contribute to various archival projects as directed, and will assist researchers at the CSWR Access Desk. Terms of the Award The award is for $15,000. The fellow will work 20 hours each week during the fall and spring semesters including finals week and the week before the start of classes in both the fall and the spring. University-wide holidays are excepted. The fellow is required to give a short research presentation in spring 2016 relating to the work accomplished during the fellowship. Deadline for receipt of applications is May 8, 2015 Selection Criteria Required: Graduate student in residence at the University of New Mexico with a minimum of 6 credit hours of course work, thesis or dissertation hours which count towards the graduate degree.
