Instructional Field Trip
 District pays for transportation; district or site pays for all fees related.
 EVERYBODY GOES – with a very few exceptions of individual students that the team has determined would not
participate.
 Participation is not up to individual teachers or sites.
 Request form needs to be completed, signed by site principal, and sent to C and I for approval.
 Site must ensure all chaperones have background checks and all IEP/504 needs have been considered and met.
 Examples include Quarry Hill or Planetarium
Enrichment Field Trip
 Related to a course of study.
 Although voluntary, most or all students in class attend.
 School Board may approve a fee for these trips – after a public hearing is held.
 IF NOT SCHOOL BOARD APPROVED, we cannot charge fees. Parents may elect to donate monies to support the
cost of trip.
 Examples include Oxbow Park or Guthrie Theater
Supplementary Field Trips
 A type of extracurricular activity.
 May take place due to participation in course.
 Generally takes place outside of the school day; however, may overlap part of a school day.
 The District may require students to pay a fee to participate in supplementary trips.
 The District may accept donations or fundraising activities.
 Must be approved by the Superintendent, or designee.
