Our mission is to promote a Supportive
Inclusive Service to children with a Global
Developmental Delay within their early
educational setting, to enable a positive
and inclusive environment respectful of
each child’s needs and abilities to
maximise their full potential, and to
enhance the lives of children by working
in partnership with the early educational
settings, parents and Early Intervention
Team.
Who are the Preschool Inclusion Team?
The Preschool Inclusion Team consists of:
 Preschool Inclusion Co-ordinator
and
 Two
Preschool
Inclusion
Facilitators.
We work closely with
 The Early Intervention Team and
 The Childcare Settings.
Referral Criteria
 Children must be pre-school age
(3yrs 2 mths)

Attend Early Intervention Team

Diagnosis of Global Developmental
Delay

Be
allocated
with
a
Pre-School
Assistant
Preschool Inclusion Team will offer
 Support and training to Early
Childhood Providers
 To empower children with a Global
Developmental Delay
 Actively participate in their Early
Childhood Setting.
 Provide flexible individualised preschool support for children with
high complex needs. This may
include a nursing care package.


What happens following referral?
 The
Pre-school
Committee
complete the Determination of
Need (DON). The DON will
highlight what level of support
your child requires from Preschool
Inclusion Team.
 The Preschool Inclusion Facilitator
will consult with Parents, Preschool staff and the Early
Intervention Team to identify the
needs required for the child in their
pre-school.
Support Offered to Pre-School
 Offer practical support & advice to
staff
 Support children’s transition to
Preschool and National School.
 Will work collaboratively with preschool staff to achieve an inclusive
environment.
 Provide practice based training to
pre-school staff.
Support Offered to Parents
 Offer practical advice to parents in
relation
to
their
child’s
development at pre-school.
 Liaise closely with parents
providing regular updates on their
child’s progress at pre-school.
 Collaborate with parents regarding
expectations for their child within
preschool.
