Position Description PDN Scientist Protein Biochemistry/Analytical Biochemistry Molecular Interactions Position Title: Scientist Protein Biochemistry/Analytical Biochemistry Molecular Interactions Department: 828 - Research Division: R&D CSL Level: CSL 4 Employment Type Full Time Summary of Role: This is a laboratory based role focussed on the detailed analysis of proteinprotein interactions. The incumbent will, as part of the Analytical Biochemistry Group, be responsible for the provision of high quality affinity and kinetic data on the interactions of therapeutic proteins with their specific targets. Other duties include characterisation of therapeutic proteins by various techniques, including amino acid analysis and N-terminal sequencing Reporting Structure: Reports to Senior Scientist - Analytical Biochemistry. Responsibilities: Engage in all laboratory activities required to analyse the molecular interactions of therapeutic proteins in sufficient detail to elucidate the affinity and kinetics of binding. Perform various analytical techniques to contribute to the characterisation of therapeutic proteins. Ensure that data is provided in line with project timing and priorities. Ensure that all experimental activities and outcomes are documented in sufficient detail and in line with CSL policies. Present results of laboratory work to internal and external collaborators as needed to facilitate smooth progress of CSL’s R&D projects. Ensure that day to day activities are carried out so as to comply with CSL’s environmental goals. POSITION SPECIFICATION Essential Qualifications/Experience: Tertiary qualification in relevant field with laboratory experience in industry or academia. Essential Skills, Knowledge & Attributes: Relevant expertise with biochemical assays. Record of quality scientific output. Excellent communication skills (listening, verbal and written). Able to troubleshoot when methods produce unexpected outcomes. Ability to work enthusiastically as part of a team. Effective time management. Experience operating a Biacore would be highly regarded.
