 Sectional Art Competition
 Select Areas will offer Sectional Art competitions for Special Olympics participants.
 Sectional Art Entry Information
 Artists must complete and submit the Art Entry Form with their art to the appropriate Art Event
Director to have their artwork entered in competition. Art submitted for a Sectional art event after
the deadline listed in this Schedule will not be judged. A school/org. should list all artists on one
Entry Form if possible.
 Artwork Identification
 All entries must be identified with the following information:
 Name - Age - Division – Team Name - City - Coach - Category
 Important: Attach identification so that it will not fall off or become separated from artwork.
 Submitting Artwork
 Art may be sent to any Sectional art event in the state. It is imperative that artwork be packed so
that it is not damaged en-route.
 SOOK & Areas hosting the art events cannot accept responsibility for artwork that is damaged or
lost.
 Art Categories
 Please mark the appropriate category for the artwork on the Entry Form w/ a brief description.
 Oil or Acrylic Painting - freestyle
 Watercolor or Tempra Painting - freestyle
 Drawing - pen, pencil, crayon, chalk, marker, ink, etc.
 Ceramic or Pottery - handmade
 Ceramic or Pottery Painting
 Sewing - thread ONLY
 Fibercraft - rope, yarn, reeds, sand, crochet, macramé, knitting, weaving, embroidery,
etc.
 Other 3 Dimensional - woodcraft, leather, candles, jewelry, mobiles, sculptures, wire
art, etc.
 Collage - cutouts of magazine pictures
 Photography - color or black & white
 Sports Art - using Special Olympics as a theme
 Artist Divisions & Age Categories

 Age Categories
 8-11; 12-15; 16-21; 22-29; 30+
 Number of Entries
 An artist may enter a maximum of 2 entries - Each entry must be listed separately on the Entry.
 Size of Artwork
 An art entry cannot be larger than 24” by 28”. No Exceptions!
 Matting/Hanging
 When appropriate, artwork must be matted or framed and fixed to hang.

 Sectional Art Competition
 Select Areas will host Sectional Music Festivals to celebrate the art of Music!
Music Festivals are open to any and all Special Olympics participant. They
are not a competition - but rather an expression of talent and creativity.
 Sectional Music Festival Entry Information
 The Music Festival Entry Form includes entry space for Vocal, Dance &
Instrumental registration. Please use one entry form per act. Attach a list of
all participants’ names in the act to the Entry if the act is a group.

Take a copy of each participating Athlete’s Medical/Release form to the
Music Event.
Entry Categories
 Dance
o Folk
o Square Dance
o Popular Dance
o Creative Dance
o Cheerleading/Drill Team
 Vocal
o Solo
o Group (2-6 people)
o Choral (7+ people)
o Lip Sync
o NOTE: Instruments or taped music may be used as accompaniment
 Instrumental
o Any musical instrument
o Self-made instrument
o NOTE: Participants may enter: Individual, Small Ensemble, Band/Orchestra
Time Restrictions
 Vocal, Dance and Instrumental numbers should be limited to:
o Solo – not to exceed 5 minutes
o Group – not to exceed 10 minutes
Music
 All Festival performers must provide their own performance music (i.e. record, cassette, CD,
piano player.) Cassettes should be marked, cued-up and ready to play.
Equipment
 Equipment available: Public address system, microphone, record/cassette/CD player.

NOTE: All performers must furnish their own instruments, except for a piano, which will
usually be available. You must advise your Festival Director if you will need a piano and
what type of player you will need for your music (record player, cassette or CD).
 Special Needs/Requests
 If there are any special requests or needs, contact your Festival Director prior to the Festival.
 Reminder
 Music Festivals are not competitions, but are designed to allow Special Olympics participants
the opportunity to showcase their musical talents. Everyone is encouraged to participate!

1. Coach’s Card

Please complete ALL information on the card, both home and team.
2. Art Entry Form or Music Entry Form

Complete ALL information on this form. Preliminary Scores are required,
except for T&F Pentathlon athletes.

ALPHABETIZE athletes by last name on Athletics Entry Form.
 REMINDER – List the Certified coach for T&F for all athletes.
3. Athlete’s Medical/Release Form

Submit a COPY of the Medical/Release form for each Athlete with Entry.

Make sure they are completely filled out and legible.
4. Athlete with Down Syndrome List

Submit this list of all athletes with Down Syndrome on your Team.
5. Unified Partner Release

Complete ALL information on this form.
6. SUBMIT AREA REGISTRATION FORMS TO :

Your Area Event Director for Art/Music.


Keep copies of all Area registration forms for your records.
