Parallel Journeys
Seminar Questions for chapters 21-Epilogue and Postscript
Seminar Date: May 10th, 2012
Seminar questions should be answered in complete sentences, using several
examples and details. Your answers also need to be supported with specific text
references (specific chapters, page numbers and paragraphs). Be sure to paraphrase
that information in your own words. You many only use text references from the
chapters you have been assigned; not from chapters that have yet to be assigned.
Seminar #6
1.
In these last 2 chapters compare and contrast Helen and Alfons, where they are in their lives, how
they live, the thoughts they are having, etc….. Do these two people with two entirely different
points of view and experiences from the war have more in common than perhaps you thought they
might have? Why?
2.
From the Epilogue, what is ironic about Waterford’s current relationship with fellow Jews?
3.
What is the effect created by this dramatic shift in tone from the beginning of the story to the end?
4.
The theme of the entire text can best be stated as ____________________. Why do you believe
this to be true?
 Are you sure you have support and text references for your responses???
