Participants will create a digital space scene using Photoshop, while also learning an easy way to sequence the lesson when limited computers are available. o o o Roller Paper Sculptures “Soup’s On” Pop Art Make 3D soup can with personalized label. Mount on background filled with words and pictures that describe the artist. Show examples of Pop Art culture” and contrast to OP Art. Painting with Wax (limit 2) 2 Hrs. Learn what is involved in working with the encaustic medium and how it integrates with other materials. This workshop will cover the basics, including information about safety, supports and grounds, making encaustic medium and mixing your own encaustic paint. Try out the various additive and subtractive techniques that will be demonstrated such as stencils, using transparent layers, incised lines, image transfers and various collage techniques. 10:20-11:40 o Fake Stain Glass The lesson is over Mandela design using radial symmetry, and then building on that lesson free form design. Designs are drawn on overhead film and colored in using sharpies. o Positive and Negative Floral Composition The participants will draw a plant from observation using the negative space then repeat their design to create a composition. They will use either watercolors or prisma colors to enhance their designs. o Color and Design 12:50-2:05 o High Contrast Acrylic Painting Participants will create a composition using a source image from figure drawing. Participants will use inversion/ rotation/ enlargement and high contrast (black & white using acrylic paint). o o Radial Symmetry Studies This is a fun, simple way to teach Radial Symmetry to students with connections to Math & Social Studies. Painting on Stain Glass Learn how to paint on glass using glass enamels. 2:10-2:55 o o o Positive and Negative Space Create two projects using positive and negative space – Matisse Collage & Notan Design. Plaster Hands Investigate hand formation through theme using plaster. Weaving Weave with several different materials in several different ways. All of the projects can be geared up or geared down for use in multiple grade levels.
