“Turnrow Talks” on Irrigation Management ~ July 2014 General Driving Directions to Sites July 23 9:00a.m.-Tunica County (Richy Bibb Farm) From Tunica, go south on Highway 61. Turn east on Highway 4. Follow Highway 4 to Limerick Road. Turn south on Limerick Road. Go three miles and the location will be on Limerick Road, between Bonnie Blue Road and Sarah Road. From Clarksdale, go north on Highway 61. Turn east onto Dubbs Road. Follow Dubbs Road to Limerick Road. Turn north onto Limerick Road. Go about 1.5 miles on Limerick Road. July 23: 11:00a.m.-Coahoma County (Pete Hunter Farm) Driving north on US-61 take the first exit into Clarksdale. Go about 1 mile, you will pass a Walmart on the right and Wade Inc on the Left. Take the first left onto Sherard Rd. Go about 1.4 miles to West Lee Dr. and turn right. Stay on West Lee Rd for 1 mile until you get to the 4 Way stop just past the High School. Turn Left onto Oakhurst Stovall Rd. Stay on Oakhurst Stovall Rd for 3.2 Miles. There will be a small pecan orchard on the left. Turn Left at the end of the Pecan orchard, there is a small turn row. If you go past a house with an iron fence you have gone to far. There is a small MSU Soybean Plot adjacent to a large corn field. Follow the road beside the soybean field to site. July 23: 3:00p.m.-Quitman County (Chris Talley Farm) Turn off Highway 3 onto Yandell Road. Yandell Road is located approximately 1/2 mile north of Vance. Turn west onto Yandell road and go approximately 1/2 mile. Turn right (north) on turn row right before farm shop. July 24: 9:00a.m.-Bolivar County (Nathan Buerhring Farm) From the red light in Shaw, go north on US-61 for one mile. There will be a road on the right called Sawmill Road. Turn onto Sawmill Road and go .5 miles and the field will be on the right. July 24: 11:00a.m.-Sunflower County (Harper Ross Farm) From Indianola, head north on Hwy-49 west. Continue on 49 west for 7 miles to Watson Rd. Turn right onto Watson Rd and continue 1 mile to the first gravel road on the right, and the field will be on the right. July 24: 2:00p.m.-Leflore County (Reese Pillow Farm) From Hwy 82 go north on Hwy 49 East for 3.3 miles and field will be about 200 yards off of 49 on the Left (west side). Look for signs to guide you in. From the Hwy 8 and 49E intersection, go south on 49 approximately 12.2 miles and the field will be on your right side. July 24: 4:00p.m.-Tallahatchie County (Ray Hardy Farm) Coming into Tippo, MS from Hwy. 32: At Cowart, MS go South on Tippo Road 5.5 Miles. You will come into Tippo MS. Just past the Tippo Post Office, turn right on to Sharkey Road going West. Go 2.5 – 3 miles & you will come to Hampton Lake Road. Turn Left on to Hampton Lake Road and go about 4 – 5 Miles and you can’t miss it on your right. Coming into Tippo, MS from Hwy. 8: Turn off Hwy. 8 on to Tippo Road. Go approximately 12 Miles & you will come into Tippo, MS. Just past the Tippo Store & just before you get to the Tippo Post Office, turn left on to Sharkey Road going West. Go 2.5 – 3 miles & you will come to Hampton Lake Road. Turn Left on to Hampton Lake Road and go about 4 – 5 Miles and you can’t miss it on your right. July 25: 9:00a.m.-Washington County (George King Farm) From Greenville take Highway 1 south to Roy's Store Rd and take a right. Follow it until it runs into Lake Washington Rd East and take a right (North). Go approximately 1.3 miles and the road makes a 90 degree turn to the left ( this is Stein Rd) and go approximately a half mile and bear left onto lake Washington Road West. You will then go approximately 1 mile and the field will be on your right. Heading north on Hwy 1you will turn left onto Roy's Store Rd and follow above directions. July 25: 11:00a.m.-Humpreys County (Jeremy Jack Farm) From 49W in Belzoni, take highway 12 East (toward Tchula) approximately 5-6 miles and take a left (north) on Silent Shade Rd and drive approximately 9.5-10 miles until you reach an old house and shop. From 49E take highway 12 west toward Belzoni approximately 10 miles and take a right (north) onto Silent Shade Rd. July 25: 3:00p.m.-Sharkey County (Clark Carter Farm) From Hwy 61 in Rolling Fork, go west on Hwy 14 approximately 1.1 miles and take a right (North) onto Carter Bros Rd. Take it approximately 1.3 miles and field will be on your left. From Greeneville, take hwy 1 south to hwy 14 and go east toward Rolling Fork approximately 4 miles and make a left on Carter Bros Rd and follow directions above. July 25: 6:00p.m.-Yazoo County (Dee Paul Farm) From Yazoo City travel north on Hwy 149 crossing the Yazoo River bridge. From the bottom of the Yazoo River bridge, travel 3.75 miles north on Hwy 149 and turn left on White’s Lane. Travel 2.6 miles on White’s Lane and the field will be on the right.
