We are learning all of the properties of weather, and how each one affects our weather from day to day. Meteorologists use these properties to predict and forecast our coming weather, every day. For this project, you will become the meteorologist. You will need to watch the news each day, or check the internet, for the current day’s weather report. Using that report, you will have to fill out the chart, every day for FIVE days. Be sure to write in the date, and all information. **Temperature—Write the high and low temperature for the day. **Humidity—Write the percentage of humidity for the day. **Pressure—Write the barometric pressure for the day. **Precipitation—Write what kind and how much precipitation fell for the day, if none, write none. **Clouds—Write the type of clouds you see during most of the day. **Wind—Write the speed and direction of the wind for the day. **Forecast—Write what the weather was forecasted to be that day, from the newspaper, TV, radio, or internet. **Description—Write a description of the day’s actual weather…for example: cloudy, partly sunny, windy, etc. The information for each day is worth 10 points, making the entire chart worth 50 points total. You also have to write a descriptive paragraph about the pattern of weather over your five days. Explain the weather, and why the weather changed or stayed the same, using the information we know about how our weather changes. Be sure to include the vocabulary words you’ve learned. An example might include, “I noticed that as the air pressure increased, the temperature decreased.” Remember, you need to write a complete paragraph, for 10 points of your total grade. You will also need to make a weather map, using the weather symbols we have learned. Be sure to include all parts of a weather map, and the correct symbols. You may use the sample map attached, or create your own. You need to include a map key of your weather symbols, as well. The map is worth 20 points. Using your weather map, and the data you collected, prepare a weather forecast speech. You will need to write a full weather report. Listen to the real meteorologists give their reports on the news, so you can become familiar with what you should discuss. You may use the sample script as an organizer for your speech/report. Make sure your weather report connects to what you have on your weather map. You will present your map and give your report for the class. Your weather report/speech is worth 20 points.
