Detailed Information about Young Authors Writing Competition

advertisement
Young Authors is a state wide writing competition that is completed by the
child. Each year a different theme is presented to NC schools. Any child
can enter at the school level. Winning school level stories are sent to the
local level (Greater Cabarrus Reading Association/ GCRA). Winners at the
local level are sent to the state level. A panel of volunteers at each level will
judge the stories. The number of entries from each school is determined by
the school’s membership at the local level. Membership can include
teachers, parents and community members. Membership fees help to
provide activities such as Seuss at the Mall, scholarships for students and
teachers, and literacy conventions. If you are interested joining the GCRA
reading association please email: connie.brittain@cabarrus.k12.nc.us.
The theme for the 2015-2016 Young Authors’ project is “Making the Most
of Me.” Young Authors are encouraged to write about defining choices that
have shaped their lives or their journeys toward becoming the very best
version of themselves. Authors may write prose or poetry, fiction or nonfiction.
