W-9: The Best of the Earth Model Forum: Rendering Rock Properties for Qualitative and Quantitative Interpretation 1:30-5 p.m. Organizer: Carmen Dumitrescu and Huyen Bui E-mail Contact: carmend@terra-iq.com Through the support of the SEG Earth Model Committee The Fourth Annual SEG Earth Model Forum was held for 3.5 day at the beginning of August, in Vail, Colorado, USA. This Forum brought together a wide range of geoscience practitioners who shared, discussed and hypothesized about the current and future state of rendering rock properties and the state of utilizing these properties across our diverse industry applications. We had sessions on rock physics and velocity models, rock physics and statistics, quantitative interpretation for reservoir properties prediction, rock physics analysis and seismic geomorphology, seismic and non-seismic methods for reservoir characterization, and well planning and history matching. At the forum we had three keynote speakers, 22 oral presentations and we allowed almost an equal time for presentation and discussions for each paper. For this workshop we selected the best ones from an outstanding group and we would like to reproduce the informal atmosphere characteristic of the forum. As for the Forum, the focus will be in: (1) rock and fluid properties at the pre-production reservoirs, (2) quantitative seismic and non-seismic interpretation, and (3) dynamic reconstruction of processes for conventional and unconventional reservoirs using seismic and non-seismic methods.
