Coosa High School Class of 2015 Baccalaureate and Graduation April, 2015 Dear Seniors, The last month of school is a very important month for all seniors. The upcoming graduation is a very special time for both you and your family. While it is a happy event, we need to recognize that it is a serious time. Seniors need to make sure that all graduation requirements have been met. A well organized, well planned agenda will assure you of happy memories of this important milestone. For this reason, the following information and schedule must be adhered to rigorously. ALL FEES AND FINES MUST BE CLEARED BY MRS. PUTNAM May 1 OR YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PARTICIPATE IN GRADUATION ACTIVITIES/CEREMONIES. 1. ATTIRE FOR BACCALAUREATE AND GRADUATION Girls: Black dress (no longer than the gown) and black shoes (no flip flops) that aligns with our dress code. Nice jewelry may be worn, but avoid large or clunky jewelry. Boys: White Dress Shirt, Tie, Dark slacks, dark socks, and dark dress shoes. (preferably black) No one wears the white collar that comes with the gown. 2. BEHAVIOR CONTRACTS The letter (green)that Mr. Hubbard sent home must be signed and returned to the office by May 1 or you will not be able to participate in graduation activities/ceremonies. 3. COLLEGE ACCEPTANCE AND SCHOLARSHIPS You need to let Mrs. Bosworth know what college or technical college you are planning to attend. Bring a copy of the acceptance letter. Any student receiving a scholarship needs to report that information so it can be placed in the awards night program. Three forms are due to the office on May 1: Graduate Information (white/yellow) Post Secondary Plans (pink),and Community Service (yellow-optional). 4. SENIOR HONORS NIGHT Thursday, May 14 at 6:30 p.m. – CHS Auditorium All seniors are encouraged to attend this event. Remember that Honor Graduates, Service Learning Graduates, and National Honor Society Graduates will receive their cords at this time. Seniors – Wear graduation gowns, but not caps, with proper attire underneath. *School rules are in effect and must be followed* 5. SENIOR LUNCHEONS AT ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS - Return your Permission Form by May 1. Alto Park, Garden Lakes – May 15 – 12:00 Cave Spring – May 15 – 12:30 6. SENIOR FINAL EXAMS Monday, May 18 CHS 5th, 6th and 7th periods – p.m. Tuesday, May 19 CCA – B Day – a.m. Wednesday, May 20 CCA – A Day – a.m. Seniors will take final exams earlier than the rest of the student body. We have worked hard to create a schedule that allows seniors to have some free time before graduation day. Seniors need to make arrangements with their teachers to take their exams. *School rules are in effect and must be followed* 7. BACCALAUREATE PRACTICE – required for those participating in Baccalaureate. Thursday, May 14 – 1:00 p. m. – CHS Auditorium You will not need to bring your cap and gown to this practice. You will be given information you will need on how we will line up, enter the auditorium, and be seated. *School rules are in effect and must be followed* 8. BACCALAUREATE Sunday, May 17 – 6:00 – 7:00 pm – Coosa High School Auditorium – Wear your gown, but not your cap, with proper attire underneath. We encourage everyone to attend this event. Assemble in the cafeteria 5:30 p.m. with your gown. (Make sure the gown has been ironed prior to this date.) *School rules are in effect and must be followed* 9. GRADUATION PRACTICES – Tuesday, May 19 (12:15 p.m.) and Thursday, May 21 (1:00p.m.) – BOTH are required. Tuesday, May 19 – 12:15 p.m. – CHS Auditorium Thursday, May 21 – 1:00 p.m. – The Forum – Dress Rehearsal (Wear YOUR CAP, GOWN, TASSEL, CORDS, ETC.) YOU MUST ATTEND (and be on time to) BOTH PRACTICES. The senior group photo will be taken at Dress Rehearsal. If you wish to purchase a copy of the photograph, you will need to bring the envelope you received with your payment inside and your name/address on the outside. When practice is over, you will have the remainder of the day as free time for yourselves. Please enjoy, but be careful. STUDENTS WHO DO NOT ATTEND BOTH PRACTICES AND ARRIVE ON TIME (OR WHO MISBEHAVE AT THE PRACTICES) WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PARTICIPATE IN GRADUATION ACTIVITIES/CEREMONIES AND WILL NOT RECEIVE THEIR DIPLOMA UNTIL ARRANGEMENTS ARE MADE WITH THE ADMINISTRATION. *School rules are in effect and must be followed* 10. SENIOR COOKOUT Wednesday, May 20 – 12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. – Coosa High School Lunch will be served at 12:00 You may bring: sunglasses, hat, music (radio, CD player, ipod), playing cards, games, suntan lotion, insect repellant, and yearbooks. *School rules are in effect and must be followed* 11. GRADUATION Saturday, May 23 – 7:00– The Forum Seniors will assemble in the meeting room at 6:00 p.m. Proper attire (listed above in #1) is required. Anyone not properly dressed will not walk in the ceremony. You will pick up your diploma from your homeroom teacher in the meeting room after graduation. Please leave the meeting room through the glass doors that lead to the ‘river side’ of the Forum. Any unbecoming behavior during the graduation ceremony will mean that your diploma will be held by the administration until arrangements are made to pick it up the next week. *School rules are in effect and must be followed* DUE Friday, May 1 1.
