Board Brief

During the month of November, the school Board held several extra sessions and worked closely with Judi Fenton. Along with Dr.

Ronald Marino, Ms. Fenton has assisted the Board to establish budget priorities, engage in a thorough policy review, and establish committee structures.

During this time, the Board completed this year’s review of tuition assistance applications.

Applicants were informed of the

Board’s decisions via a letter from the school’s business manager.

The Board and Director are in the process of formalizing contracts for all members of faculty and staff. The Board has committed to continuing to work with Ms.

Fenton and Dr. Marino in 2010 so that they can continue to support the school’s implementation of the new curriculum, policy review processes, and teaching strategies.

The Board has also established its construction priorities, based upon recommendations made by the

Buildings and Grounds Committee, who conducted a walk-through of the school buildings and property on

October 26. The sick bay/nurse’s office is nearly complete, and the computer lab will be ready in January.

The Board appointed Mr. Anthony

Fleming to fill a vacancy left by the resignation of Mr. Matthew Nims. Mr.

Fleming has served for the past several months as the US

Ambassador’s representative to the

Board, but will now be a full voting member.

The Board also approved several amendments to the school calendar to allow the faculty to engage in more professional development opportunities. The updated calendar has been posted on the web site and will be sent home in hard copy.

Please note that the school year has been extended to June 17 in order to preserve instructional hours.
